Hello everyone. I am new to this site. I am really stressed out right now because I took my NCLEX for PN yesterday and I feel like I didnt know anything. I know people have similar experiences but I really feel like I was reading a foreing language. The questions were unlike anything I have ever seen. I had all 205 questions and they all seemed hard. I dont know what to do. I cant eat or sleep. And I heard the the people at the testing center know your results but they wont tell you. Does anyone know if this is true. As I was leaving the proctor told me to have a good weekend. Was that a sign? Can somenone would helpful information please respond. Thanks
I really wonder why California has people wait so freaking long!! I am sort of new to posting, and that is one of the things I see the most, that people out there have to wait for so long. Can someone enlighten me if there is a method to their madness? My heart bleeds for those that have to wait for so long...
I believe that it helped me, and our instructors strongly believe that the ATI scores are a reliable indicator of who will pass boards the first time, and for the past 2 years they have been using the system, that has seemed to hold true. If you are able to pass the ATI tests, you seem to pass boards the 1st time taking them.

Did you get the little booklets and CD roms? I found that they have a limited test bank, and I didn't listen or utilize the CD ROMS, just yet. I have finals Wednesday, and then, I have officially completed the PN program. At this point, I am trying to plan my strategy for studying. When the guy came to visit, he told us that you had a chance of passing if you started out with at least 50%, and from then, you would work on the areas they outlined in the printout. Most of mine were up in the 70s, except for nutrition (58) and pharmacology (69). I already see that those will be an issue, so, I plan to study really hard, and try my best!
Hi Cyndi519, thanks for the support, at least I know it's not just me feeling this way. I seriously wonder if anyone really feels like that test wasn't that bad. I have seen a few posts where they seemed to think they passed. I can't even imagine feeling so confident. The questions were out of left field and the answers you know were not there!!! Lord help us. I'm just praying that I won't have to go through it again or I might give up. After wanting to be a nurse for all my life (I'm 48) I wouldn't know where to go from here. Everyone's posts have been very encouraging and supportive and I appreciate you all so much. You are awesome. :) Oldernursing student in California waiting on pins and needles
My instructors told me they would be worried if we came out feeling confident that we passed......LOL. I also felt as though my questions were from the outfield somewhere and my teacher told me "that means you had the harder questions".....who knows if that is true or not...LOL, but I did pass after 2 days of sheer PANIC......My study buddy from class took hers last week and she took about 170 questions and was SO panicked she didn't eat for 2 days, barely slept and was terrified that she had failed.....but SHE PASSED!!!! I honestly cannot imagine having to wait more that the 2 days I did, I think I would have to be heavily MEDICATED......:roll
I'll check back to see you post saying that you PASSED!!!!
One piece of advice I can offer, no amount of encouragement from my peers or family helped me get through my stress......but I finally had to have a "conversation" with myself to realize that I had TRULY done everything I could do, I answered the questions the best I could and resigned myself to the horrifying fact that I MAY have to re-take the stupid thing....LOL.

I honestly didn't read the booklets.....they bored the heck out of me, but I did do my tests and our teachers made us re-take them to get to a 100% passing rate....which REALLY helped.....My pre-test study consisted of taking questions (our instructors recommended 5000)....I used the ATI, Saunders, NCLEX made incredibly easy, Eyles review and Delmars. The tests give you the rationale and that was a HUGE help to me.
Hope you dont mind if I butt in...
Try not to worry too much.
I fell asleep for twenty minutes while taking the NCLEX. Couldnt sleep the night before. Thought I did terrible but passed.
A student from my class got the entire 200+ questions and said she cried through the last half. And she was probably the smartest of us all (including being an EMT-P).
Somebody once told me that a certain amount of testees get the enitre test as a part of research.
Good luck-

I hear the magical number 5000 often, and it makes sense, when you think about it. If a person has a 6 to 8 week goal, and does about 100 per day, it is not impossible. I plan to do about 150 to 200 per day, because I want to do regular questions, but will also use my pharmacology CD ROMS and will practice math as well. Math is a big fear of mine, and in most cases, when I see math formulas, I really flip out. Mind you, I got an A in medical dosages, but I really don't remember much of it. Thanks for the ATI information. How many questions did ATI supply you with? I ask this, because we take ATI questions at the end of each semester, and since I'm almost out, I went to their test bank to review pharmacology. They gave 75 questions, and told me what to review. I did that, and wanted to go into the bank for more pharm questions. They only had those 75. I did get the print out telling me what to review, but I have to admit, I was pissed off, because I expected more. I won't use anymore of their non-proctored questions until next week, when I am finished, and can use them as a resource for test questions.

I would get really violent if I knew that my blood, sweat and tears went towards an exam that had an entire test based on some research project...do we look like rats?? LOL!

I wish I can hand you a pillow to soothe the pins and needles. Just reading these posts make me want to scream that Cally sucks when it comes to acknowledging the feelings of NCLEX students waiting for those results. I know that most people would be afraid to actually look at the results, but at least, you can make plans and move on. And, how motiviated would a person be if they did have to take that test again, just to wait SOME MORE??? Believe me; I am not saying that you would be one of them, I'm just saying that people need to know so that they can make their plans and move to the next phase in this. (((Hugs to you)). I am in my early 40s, so, I am feeling you. I'll be there shortly myself.

My class is also using ATI. How do you find it? Does it seem helpful to you?
