StonyBrook ABSN: Class of 2021

Hi all,

Thought I'd start a thread here so we can connect. I am in the process of taking my pre-reqs and plan to submit my application by the Oct 2019 deadline for the Summer 2020 start.

I'm planning on attending the Sept 19 info session on campus - anyone else going?

I only applied to Stony Brook this cycle, as I need to stay close to my family for the time being. But hopefully next cycle I can apply to more schools outside of LI if I don’t get in to SBU!

I spoke with a girl in my micro class and she said she works for Stony Brook and also applied and has heard nothing yet.

I also applied to the BSN Stony Brook program and will be applying to Suffolk. Unfortunately can’t go the private school route also ?

I just called them, and they basically said we do not know when we will be interviewing people. But final decisions will still be coming out in January. It looks like they are going for a more holistic review this cycle, so while we may be waiting more, it might work out better if anyone has lower stats.

no ? it is actually my 3rd time applying. It is a very competitive program. I would like to go here because I work in the hospital and would get tuition reimbursement.

I figured that much since there is a new director for the program this year. Hopefully that means good news for some of us who do not have a 3.8-4.0 GPA.

The wait is killing me! Hopefully the new director is changing things up hence why its not the typical process. I am also applying to downstate and bing, anybody know anything about those programs?

The wait is killing me too!! I am hoping that we will start to hear about interviews tomorrow because last year the first round of invites were sent out the Friday after Columbus day... so we shall seeeeeeeee!! Good luck everyone!!

I know it is only 10am but I have been refreshing my e-mail and this thread NONSTOP in hopes of seeing SOMETHING from SBU lol. I know things may not be the same due to the new director but if we were to follow last years pattern, first wave of interview invites should be sent out today because it is the Friday after Columbus Day. Fingers are crossed for all of us!!!

Today would be cool! I will note that two years ago it was either a Monday or Tuesday, and also that Columbus Day was much later this year in relationship to the app deadline. But it can't hurt to hope!

I'm doing the same thing ? refreshing nonstop, it's driving me crazy!

I applied too! Checking my email like crazy also. Does anyone know if they just send if you got accepted or if you didn’t as well?
