Stony Brook U Nursing Basic BSN Fall 2014 Applicants!

Published

Hey everyone! I'm in the middle of my prerequisites for the nursing program at Stony to apply for admission next fall! Just wanted to reach out and say hey to anyone else in the same shoes! Where else are you all applying?

SBU is obviously my first choice, but I'm also applying to NYU, Adelphi, Molloy, I might apply to York and Lehman, and I might apply to LIU Brooklyn. I would apply to Hunter, but I don't want to transfer for the spring only to be waitlisted (or rejected!) for one of their 100 seats.

Thank you! I appreciate the confidence booster! :) did you apply anywhere else?

I thought on applying to NYIT and Adelphi, but they are too far from me.... which program are you going for at SBU now?

Right now I'm a psych major! Yeah, I only applied to sbu & sccc.

yeah i have a 3.9 gpa, deans list all four semesters at Suffolk and PTK honor society. it sucks cause i worked my butt off but it looks like grades aren't everything yet thats all my advisors told me were I need A's :(

I was thinking about applying to Suffolks- get my associates in Nursing than come to Stony Brook program. My nursing professor at Stony Brook said that they want Associate degree Nurses to get there Bachelors so its not a hard program to get into because I think it is fairly new program at Stony Brook.

Whens the application for SCCC due ?

It was due in January :/ looks like you have a great chance of getting into sbu

Wow, I'm surprised you did not get asked for an interview. Maybe you have such good credentials that they do not need to interview you! Unfortunately, my GPA is nowhere near as good as yours and I have not gotten an interview either. We will keep our fingers crossed.

So if they ask you to come in for an interview, that means you are going to be accepted?

hahaa aw well thanks but still no e-mail :(

Hopefully on Monday we will hear from them.

And for the interviews think its 180 they are interviewing then they narrow it down from there. I'm not sure how many seats there are in the program.

Oh okay, that makes sense. Unfortunate for those who have not been given an interview though. Who told you that info?

Im at Stony Brook now for a Bachelors in Health Science (backup in case I don't get into the program), my advisor put me in the Introduction to Nursing Class with Dr. Philip Tarantino-- who is on the board of admissions for the Basic BSN nursing program. He said in class two weeks ago that they are interviewing 180 students so they can actually meet the students instead of just basing it off a piece of paper.

@Piwinskia , Did your professor give any idea on how many students they would be accepting into the program?

Thanks for the information. Sounds like an interview is mandatory for all potentially accepted students. Wish we had definite answers.
