Stony Brook U Nursing Basic BSN Fall 2014 Applicants!

Published

Hey everyone! I'm in the middle of my prerequisites for the nursing program at Stony to apply for admission next fall! Just wanted to reach out and say hey to anyone else in the same shoes! Where else are you all applying?

SBU is obviously my first choice, but I'm also applying to NYU, Adelphi, Molloy, I might apply to York and Lehman, and I might apply to LIU Brooklyn. I would apply to Hunter, but I don't want to transfer for the spring only to be waitlisted (or rejected!) for one of their 100 seats.

To the people who already got their email for an interview, do you guys had good GPA's? or do you think they look more into the personal statement?? What do you think they look into?

Thanks!

I think Stony Brook nursing program is def more holistic when it comes to admitting students.

I know a friend of mine who got into the 2 year program with a 3.0 gpa last year.

A lot of the nursing students tell students who apply to the program to really pour their heart out with the essay because thats what they consider the most along with improvement in your grades if your overall gpa is not that great.

Guess I'm not accepted at this point

Oh okay thanks , I check my application and I applied for the basic

Ugh i haven't heard anything

Nope that I know off.

me neither, but my solar system changed. It's that good news?

What do you mean the solar system had changed? I don't know what you mean by that

How did solar change for ya?

before I could just see my applicant information, and now they add more stuff, like application status, upload documents; they also updated my profile I can see everything, name, address, email, phone number, etc. Before I couldn't see anything of those things. Idk if it makes any difference or is normal for everyone.

I am able to see that stuff too but no email & I highly doubt I am getting in at this point.. I'm a current sbu student but I feel my chances are slim. How are your grades?

I think they are fair, im sure there are more people out there they have better GPA than mine. I have a 3.5GPA and I didn't do that well on my A&P1, I have a C+ in that class but everything else are pretty much A's and 2 B+'s. Plus I am in Dean's list and soon to be a member of the Honor Society, Idk if that is important though...

Tmd1990 you just have to be positive. I have read that sometimes grades don't really matter. Nobody knows what they are looking for...
