Stony Brook U Nursing Basic BSN Fall 2014 Applicants!

Published

Hey everyone! I'm in the middle of my prerequisites for the nursing program at Stony to apply for admission next fall! Just wanted to reach out and say hey to anyone else in the same shoes! Where else are you all applying?

SBU is obviously my first choice, but I'm also applying to NYU, Adelphi, Molloy, I might apply to York and Lehman, and I might apply to LIU Brooklyn. I would apply to Hunter, but I don't want to transfer for the spring only to be waitlisted (or rejected!) for one of their 100 seats.

I just received the email yesterday and scheduled my interview for the end of march.. finally the process is moving along.. I currently am attending Adelphi University for nursing and I like the program but agree that they want your money.. they are a private school so unfortunately thats how they all are and the commute is very stressful considering it takes me over an hour to get there and you always have to be early because parking is crazy so i am really hoping Stony Brook takes me .. it is so much closer less expensive and from what i have heard the best nursing program on the island so fingers crossed but until my interview i will be reading up on potential questions.. good luck to everyone i hope to see ya there!

Got my e-mail as well. I interviewed for the one year (didn't get in) and I'm assuming it's going to be the same kind of process. Hopefully this time it works out for everyone!

What the heck I still haven't gotten anything !!!

Around what time and when did you guys get them?

I did not receive one either. I know sometimes they send notices out in batches. Hopefully they will do so for the interviews. Anyone speak to admissions about this?

I hope so :'( I know previous years they sent out rejection emails first, then acceptances, then wait lists. I'm not sure if it changed now that they're interviewing people

I haven't heard anything yet :(

For the accelerated program this year, they sent out first batch of acceptance letters then another batch of acceptance letters and wait lists and finally, the rejection letters.

I know for the accelerated program, they called to schedule an appointment but this time they sent emails out instead and let you pick a date at your convenience! I think they're trying to be more organized this time because from what I heard, accelerated interviews were all over the place :x

If I hear from anyone regarding the interview emails, I'll let you guys know!

Theres also pre-nursing club that you can join on FB that's really helpful!

Thanks oesoj!! I guess Monday is the next time we'll hear something .. Fingers crossed!!

Does anyone know how to tag people in this forum?? LOL. The good old @ isnt doing justice here

Hey guys, I also received the email about the interview and I scheduled it at the end of March. Just had a quick question for anyone who is in a similar situation, I am currently going to another nursing program but it's not my first choice, I also didn't mention this on the app because while I was filing the app, I didn't know whether I was going to get into this program, So, can I still switch out of this program if I get accepted into SBU? I don't want to tell the interviewing panel about this because it might come across as just as another college choice, but SBU has been my #1 choice since High school.

Hey, would you mind telling us exactly what kind of questions there were on the Math test so that we can better prepare ourselves? Was it just basic adding, subtraction, division, and multiplication? Or, is it more complex; ie: .45 ÷ 34.54?
