Only a student that has been accepted can tell you what that mean, sounds promising though. You prob meant your Fall 2009 grades, right? I did not get such a letter, but I can only assume that perhaps because I am in FL I will get something tomorrow?

Just curious, what other accelerated programs are you guys applying to? (or have already applied?) I was looking at Pace (NYC), Concordia (Weschester), UMDNJ (Jersey).. but i've only applied to SB so far. I feel like all the other deadlines are so much later. Any wisdom on other schools?

Also, people on this stony brook thread, are most of you in your senior year of college, or already graduated? i'm trying to get an idea of the age of the ppl in the SB accelerated program. I'm graduating college this spring.

See my age above -- as you can see my senior year was long ago! :D

I'm also applying to the Univ of Central Florida's program since I live in FL. Getting into SB would be incredible for me since I want to relocate back to NY anyway. Sucks though that I'll have to pay non-res tuition if that is the case, but it's still cheaper than a private program that's for sure. If it does not work out this year, I will def re-apply as a resident. If it's meant to be, everything will work out! As far as other schools, I have not tried to even go crazy with many apps. I wanted to apply to as few as possible for now.

RE: Concordia. I hear it's a great new program and they are hoping to be fully accredited by the end of Spring. A few students in the program now have told me they really like it.

Specializes in CNA in LTC, Hospital.

I went to the info session on friday the 18th. They said letters are probably going out mid to late January. I dont know about finding out through solar b/c i am a stony brook alumni so my solar is already set as student so i wouldnt notice if i got in by solar. i am the opposite of you guys...i dont want to check my snail mail..lol. the suspense is killing me but i fear seeing the small envelope so i want to check it but at the same time i dont. I guess its better to get it after the holidays b/c i dont want to be sad if i dont get it around the holiday time. I really want to get in. i so desperately want to be a nurse...

wow mid to late january? that's a bit later than we've all been expecting :-/ i guess you're right, a small-envelope letter would not be a great christmas present..

Good luck on all your ACCEPTANCES when they finally come!!

Good luck to you guys too...and happy holidays to you all!!:) Eventhough they say mid to late january i anticipate it everyday. they could be just telling us late january so we dont call and nag them about when we will be receiving it.

I graduated this past May, so if I get the chance to start nursing school this coming year, I'll be 23. Congrats on your upcoming commencement! It's such a huge accomplishment.

If I get in the program I will be 23 but turning 24 that yr(2010).I have seen both the 1year and 2 year students in the hospital cafeteria. The 1year has a lot of older students like 30s-40s while the 2year has students usually in their twenties. its b/c the 2year program usually has students from the west campus of stony brook and the one year has students from the both stony brook and other schools who may be changing careers after 15yrs,etc. I would prefer to get into the 1yr b/c its quicker but then again its more worked cramped in. i pray i get into at least one. i think no matter what program you get into there will be someone else in your age group.

No news is good news I suppose! Looking at mid to late Jan for decisions I hear.
