Anyone else applying to the Accelerated BSN?? Deadline is November 1st ... YIKES! ... ... need moral support
!!
Hi,
For those of you who attended the info sessions, did they talk about what the schedule would be like for the accelerated program? How many days a week we have class, or when our clinical would start? I am still on the alternate list unfortunately, but I'm just trying to get as much info as I can. Thanks!
We were told it is essentially 9 - 6, 5 days a week with some variance based as the specific class schedule and clinicals. Clinicals are normally 7a-7p one day a week (which can be on the weekends) and your clinicals start 3 weeks into the summer. In the fall and spring semester it varies slightly, but not much
hey itsme583, or whoever else may know... how do you apply for this full tuition scholarship (can you paste the link)? I've searched SBU website & I'm trying to figure out if we qualify for scholarships as a 2nd bacc/post bacc student. Since we are advised not to work, I need to figure out how I'll support myself. I'll most likely take out loans, but any extra $ would be sweet.
Also, are there any ppl coming from out of state looking for off campus housing? I've searched craigslist, but I'm sure there are other resources. I just need a simply furnished room in a decent house... I wouldn't mind sharing an apartment w/ fellow students, but that may be harder to put into motion since we may be coming from all over the place (& I don't expect to get to NY until June 20th).
So I did a little digging and found that the tuition deposit is due April 1, for anyone wondering.
So whats the deal with the malpractice insurance? Is there a recommended plan or are we expected to find some for ourselves?
haha ok scratch that. I thought malpractice insurance was gonna be an ordeal to sort out but its actually cheap and easy to get--$22.50 for NY residents with HPSO and $29 with NSO, and we can apply online.
I'm still on the waitlist, no new word yet on what's happening with my application. But regardless of what happens, time is running fast and I have to make decisions. I am going to have to pursue reapplication for the following class. This is clearly not a good year for me to start a nursing program. I have a lot of other things I need to prioritize right now. I don't mind however, it's what's better for me. It's only one more year and thankfully I still have a job and can finish my prereqs fully before a new application year. Good luck to all of you in the class of 2011, shame I won't be your classmate but I look forward to your posts to see how things are going for you :)

nwankwoa, I was an alternate up until 3 weeks ago when my tabs changed. I got my acceptance letter a week after that. Good luck!
