Hi! I've been accepted for fall/2010, Basic 2 year program. I've been trying unsuccessfully to find out what kind of schedule to expect. Do you have any idea? I'm a mom of 3, and knowing what to expect schedule-wise would be extremely helpful! Thanks!

The two year program is laid out a bit differently:

Fall Year #1

Fundmanetals + cinicals

Health Assessment

Med Math

Perspectives in Nursing

Beginning of Patho (Nov)

Spring Year #1

Community Nursing + clinicals

Psych Nursing + clinicals

Nutrition

End of path (end April)

Fall Year #2

Pediatrics/OB

Research

Pharm starts Nov

Spring Year #3

Adult Health

Pharm continues until April

Ethical, Management Principals

There is a class, Health Care Policy, that I am not sure when the 2 yrs fit it in. Don't worry - its a 1 credit joke.

Classes generally start at 9 (rare exception 8) and go until ??? I know the 2 yrs had a lot of down time whereas we rushed from class to class. For example, in the fall, we had OB from 9-12 with the 2 yrs. Then, we went to psych from 1-4 and the 2 yrs had nothing. We all met back up for research at 4 until 6.

yea i have also been accepted into the 2 yr program and i have also been wondering what the schedule is going to be like because i need to know how i'm gonna do it with a job. if i am gonna be able to work or not

When is your orientation? Mine is on August 26, which is wa-a-ay too long to wait. On the phone, I was told that classes are usually 9-5, 5 days a week, and that the reason why they won't have the schedule till the end of August is because of SUNY budget cuts. Once my health form is completed, I'll drive to campus to deliver it in person and hopefully will be able to speak with somebody. If I hear anything definite, I'll let you know.

Check your acceptance letter; the orientation date should be there.

yea it was there and its the same day aug 26 so we aren't going to get the schedule until orientation

for any alternate's who got accepted, i have a question.. when the new student's tab showed up on solar, were you missing a tab first? My application tab (the third one) isn't there anymore, but i don't have any other tab replacing it. any idea what that could mean? is everyone else's application tab gone too??

My application tab's gone too. Not quite sure what that means. Someone on the other Stony Brook thread said the same thing about his tabs.

hey i have a question for the people that are already in the 2 yr program or know about it, i was wondering what kind of job you can have while in the program. Im working full time now but i know that's probably not going to be possible while in the program so i was thinking maybe getting a part time job. it just sucks because i have no idea what the schedule of classes is going to be like

So .... it is now July 1, and I was waitlisted for the Summer 2010 ABSN class. I am assuming that classes have already started or are about to. Is it safe to say at this point that I was not admitted or am I still waitlisted? I have not from the school either way. I would like to know so that I can proceed with my applications for 2011, and reapply to Stony Brook as well. Thanks!
