Stony Brook Nursing Basic BSN Fall 2015 applicants

Congratulations to all who got an interview. I was curious if any veterans had received an interview. I applied on 12/25/14 when all my references were complete. I had heard that Stony brook interviews the veterans to bsn separately, as part of the grant they received from the government. This is my first year applying I have a 4.0 gpa on all science pre eqs and a 3.9 on all the other requirements. I am getting discouraged as well since I did not receive a email for an interview. Any other veterans who applied did you receive an interview.

Hey Besnli! My friend is a veteran applying for Fall as well. He put in his application in October and got an interview in December, they basically told him he was in and now he's waiting on his acceptance letter. I would suggest calling or emailing an associate dean to inquire about additional interviews for veterans, it may put you on top of the pile!

Nope! Nothing at all! This stinks.

I attended one of the information sessions at SCCC the other day, and I was told that although we may have much of the coursework in their program already completed, it would still take two years to complete the ASN. The only difference is that we'd have a lighter credit load each semester. :s

Same thing for me over here at QCC @nalafire. It's 1 clinical class per semester for four semesters, so it's actually a 3 year associate's. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for the bachelor's, it's the quicker route

I have not heard anything either. I left a message for the veteran coordinator as well. Interviews I heard are about a week or so away. I would speculate they might send additional emails out after the interviews. However, I am unfamiliar with the process.

You do not meet with the faculty individually. I can't really tell you specifically what questions they ask but if you google, it should help you out. For math, I would brush up on basic math, ie; fractions, division, percents, and so on. Essay prompts, I dont remember. Good luck!

I just logged into my SOLAR account though and it's FINALLY updated as of 3/11/15. Maybe there's still hope for those of us who haven't heard anything!
