  1. Congratulations! There are two parts in your portal in which you have to accept if that helps. Try checking your spam email, maybe it got sent there.
  2. Thank you! Yes it was sent to my email yesterday. They ask you to open up your portal and either accept or decline. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity.
  3. Acceptance letters are getting sent out. I feel so lucky and fortunate to have gotten accepted. I wish everyone good luck in there endeavors.
  4. I don't feel its fair to ask what the interview questions are. We are at this time all competing for a limited amount of positions. If you ask me the same question 4 months from now no problem.
  5. I have experience in psych. Not currently working there. However where I work everyone has a psych component to them. Not all my candidates had a psych back-round and many of them had under a year experience. They def did not like it if you applied to more than one of their NP programs it appeared.
  6. I was in the 11am interview. I agree the suspense of waiting a couple of months to find out such an important decision. I read on last years thread they interview 80 and about 46 get in. That means 50% chance and better if you had strong responses. My answers felt so different from everyone else. I did prep for the interview which helped.
  7. I just interviewed for the 2023 PMHNP. It was stressful we had so many candidates at one time. I thought every candidate was very strong in their responses. Wishing everyone good luck.
  8. So I looked at long term outcome, made a pros and cons of both jobs. If I cant advance to nurse 2 and keep getting step raises in the next 5 years a 74k salary will only be advanced 78k. Night differential 10% no guarantee on 25% weekend diff and hours. Pension of only 1% tsp of 5%. Recent pension changes mandate new employees to pay over 4% into plan. Current situation 77K with night diff...advance to 82K in 6 months as a year anniversary raise. Pension is 1.66% with a required 6% employee pay into plan. Anything over 20y rs is 2%. Ability to move up with my masters and make 100K plus within 5 years. So how long does it take to make it get to Step 2, is my real question, I heard (not sure) that the va is not giving out advancements as they used to. Hence the reason of my low ball offer, I see some new nurses on this board who started out as step 5 with no experience. I also want to learn and advance my career either NP/masters ect. I don't know that I will grow at the VA. Although I have only been a nurse for 8 months. It is a intensive care recovery floor, that is the only unit that accepts vents besides micu/sicu. Many of my patients are icu level patients. What can I expect at the VA med/surge? Also alot of movement around the VA 3rd new director in the past 2 years, HR shakeup, makes me wonder if this is really the right decision.
  9. As a veteran, I have always wanted to work and care for other veterans. I was always told the VA paid well compared to community hospitals. I just received my boarding salary and grade, as a nurse with close to one year experience I should start our as a Nurse 1 step 3...I was offered Step 2. I currently work as a intensive care recovery nurse at the only level 1 trauma center in my area. The nursing skills I have attained compare to icu level nursing at some of the other community hospitals, which rank higher in acuity than the VA. The VA is actually one of the lowest paying positions in the area. My dilemma is the ability to advance to nurse 2, move up and gain new skills at a higher level. I am not sure the VA can offer me these opportunities. Anybody have any idea how to move from one med/surge to an icu unit and how long does it take to advance to nurse 2.
  10. So the trick was accurate, I paid for the quick results today and got an unofficial Pass.
  11. Took my test this morning. Computer shut off at 75 questions, a little over 2 hours. I had 36 sata questions almost 50% so I had a good felling that I passed. Went home a couple hours later, I got the good popup. Thanks for keeping the trick alive, I will report back when I get the official results. I used Uworld to study which was 100 times harder than the actual test, however it did help prepare me for almost anything the exam had. Good luck and congratulations to everyone that passed.
  12. First off congratulations on officially becoming a a registered nurse. Can I ask how much you spent on your education over the course of the 4 years at Molloy? I would estimate over 100k, but I will leave that for you to tell truthfully since you graduated from their. This is not a better than the other situation, their are many factors that play into deciding which nursing school is best for you. We all are proud of our accomplishments and rightfully so. All I can state are the facts, Stony Brook has one of the highest nclex passing rates in the country. Here is the link http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/nurse/nurseprogs-nclexrn2013-17.htm. The proof is in the evidence based practice facts. You can state that one school is better than the other but please provide facts besides your subjective information. I too have offers from almost every Northwell hospital on LI, Stony Brook University Hospital, Mather, LISVH. Additionally, its funny because the valor program which is a Veteran Affairs internship program during the summer is extremely competitive, year after year Stony Brook students get the internships over all other nursing school students. This must say something about how well prepared we are into entering the nursing world and how well rounded we are. So you can give your subjective data all day, but it does not mean it is truthful. We are supposed to be helping her make one of the biggest decisions of her life in this post. You sound like a Molly recruiter who is only interested in bringing the college in money. Lets keep this post about informing the student with real information so she can make the best decision for her.
  13. You should look into Stony Brook, they are a Suny school where tuition is less than 9k per year. Additionally they have a one year and two year program. Molloy costs a little under 30k a year. Furthermore Stony Brook has some of the highest Nclex passing ratings in the nation.
  14. I am grateful for the free healthcare I receive at the VA. I would not expect to get a prestigious position as a VALOR student than someone like yourself. You have a tremendous amount of experience that can not be overlooked. One of the candidates who turned down the position had experience equal to yours. I was very satisfied with the students they choose, as I know both them to be very bright, well rounded and have more experience than I. I was satisfied they made the best choose for the VA system. However, when the position was turned down I also know the replacement student. I do not hold any grudge against her but she is not as qualified as some of the other students who applied for the position. As a matter of fact she probably is one of the least rounded students in my nursing cohort.
  15. So I do not have much healthcare experience, however the candidates they choose did not have alot of experience as well. I have a ton of life experience graduating from a 6 years apprenticeship as a union electrician. Consisting of over 2000 classroom hours and 10000 hours on the job training. Additionally, one critical thinking question was in nursing is a rapid changing environment how would you deal in this situation. Well who knows better about changing environments that men and women who go to war. I had to transition from my primary mos as a heavy combat engineer to fighting and guarding the front lines of the perimeter. Communication and teamwork to accomplish a task to ensure that safety is a priority. Another dealt with dealing with a customer, I have been a foreman on several projects, so I have experience working with customers to ensure not only the safety and integrity of the installation but the safety of the men who worked for me. Planning, working with customers is a integral part of what I did on a daily basis as events and access to areas of the project were not always available. Furthermore, transitioning from military life to being a civilian is a big adjustment. Our veterans deserve every opportunity to succeed as we have made a huge commitment to our country. The VA is not known to offer the best healthcare to begin with, as I know first hand I have been going to this particular VA for 10 years. Felons and drug addicts who get out of jail get better access to healthcare through medicaid. So being picky should start with the best healthcare to veterans, which is not what the VA is about if you ever received treatment their.
