Hello everyone!
I applied to Stony Brook's Basic (2-year) BSN program 3 weeks a go and thought it may be helpful to start up a forum.
If you are:
currently applying or plan on applying, a former applicant, a current SBU student, I'd love to hear from you!
Has everyone finished their perquisites? Does anyone else have a not so competitive GPA (like me)? Does anyone know who is considered a competitive applicant? Where is everyone else applying?
I look forward to speaking with everyone and hopefully entering the Fall '12 class together!

thank you for the suggestion, i shall start applying as a non matri student asap so i can take chem in the summer, i hope they take the credits .. did it say i need a bio elective to apply? because im currently taking bio 101 and i dont know if that counts as an elective, i also have a geology with lab for the "another science" requirement, would i still need another bio elective?
Yes bio 101 should work...and no you don't need the bio elective to apply u just have to have it cOmplete it by the time program starts..HSC told me that for a bio elective any bio course 100 level or above would count...and kitkat I took social Psyc but you can take that or group dynamics but I liked social Psyc it was interesting
Also ichew if it's a suny school you take the chem at you def will not have an issue..but call HSC and make sure the school credits will transfer
My friend told me when he took courses at another college as non matric the credits didnt count for stony brook which really sucks unfortunately BMCC is a CUNY not SUNY so it might not be equivalent, so its either i double up two sciences per semester or commute to stony for the science during summer poo!!
This might be a stupid question but what's the difference between Cuny and suny...also ichew was the classes your friend took at a suny school because I was thinking about nassau for you? Btw nothing yet lol I'm going crazy
CUNY and SUNY are both public universities..
CUNY = City University of New York (based in NYC)
SUNY = State University of New York
SUNY tuition is higher than CUNY tuition.
Nope!Although yesterday I heard from Suffolk... They has asked me for a copy of my drivers license to show proof that I live in Suffolk... I'm really actually surprised to have heard from the admissions office from both Nassau and Suffolk... I would kind of just assume that they expect you to have it all figured out on your own, but it seems promising that they're willing to offer some guidance and assistance. I keep checking solar for those "new tabs" that people have mentioned in the past though... Lol.
