SBU NURSING APPLICANTS FOR FALL 2017
Hey guys! I've decided to start this thread for all applicants. I know it's a bit early but I'm hoping we can all help each other! Last year I applied for the Basic BSN program and was chosen for an interview. Unfortunately, I wasn't selected for the program. I was accepted to SBU and decided to attend this year and take some classes. I've already received my associate degree in Liberal Arts from NCC. Where is everyone transferring from?
During my interview they said the same thing about getting thousands of applicants this cycle. They also said they were interviewing 160 applicants over the next three weeks but didn't mention anything about all of the emails being sent out yet. Perhaps call the school and just ask so you don't have to keep wondering.
Hearing how many applicants there are makes me both happy to have received an interview, but also more anxious that the applicant pool is larger and more competitive this year. Wish all the best of luck these next weeks.
Also to all interviewed so far, is this writing sample a rehash of our statements/nursing related? Or it about an unrelated topic where they just want to see our writing abilities?

It's a personal statement, easy question.
Can anybody who has interviewed already explain how the group interview works? For instance, Is it awkward being the last of 6 people answering the same question?
The people who do the interview are super nice. They make sure that you are calmed and relaxed. They pick who they want to answer the question first. In my group we all got along, during the interview we laughted a lot. It was not that scary at all. Just try to be yourself and show them why you want to be a nurse. Answer their questions but don't talk to much. Good luck.

@jesssaying I think they sent out all the invite at once, back a few weeks ago. She said all 160 applicants have already scheduled their interviews that are being conducted over the next 2-3 weeks. I also spoke to someone in the program and she said it was her understanding that it was just the one round and done. I'm not saying to give up hope completely but it's probably a good time to start working on plan B
