SBU NURSING APPLICANTS FOR FALL 2017

Hey guys! I've decided to start this thread for all applicants. I know it's a bit early but I'm hoping we can all help each other! Last year I applied for the Basic BSN program and was chosen for an interview. Unfortunately, I wasn't selected for the program. I was accepted to SBU and decided to attend this year and take some classes. I've already received my associate degree in Liberal Arts from NCC. Where is everyone transferring from?

Hey Dani182! Glad I found your post :)

I just started my second year at SCCC as a liberal arts major. Almost done with my prereqs, I only have microbiology (currently taking) and lifespan development left. Have you started the application process yet?

Hi Sublee! Are you taking micro and lifespan development in the Spring? I did start it. Last year it took me awhile because you need to enter about twenty classes. Along with the date of completion, grade, and credit. This was time consuming for me because I have three college transcripts to go through.

Hey everyone, I just submitted my appilcation for the SBU fall 2017 class on thursday. Im freaking out, hope everyone is freaking out like me . Im finishing up my prerequisites at NCC. I do wish all of the best of luck and hope we all stay in touch

I'm taking micro now and lifespan development in the spring :-)

Hey everyone:)

do you need to finish all the prerequisites courses before applying to SBU?

I'm taking microbio and 3 other classes this semester at NCC. i will receive my liberal arts degree when I finish fall semester.

the problem is i just realized that the prerequisite list has chemistry, It is the only class i didn't take on the list...

So can i apply first and then take chemistry in spring? or i better check other schools don't require chemistry?

Thanks

Hello zj120cn! :) From looking on the SBU nursing website, you can apply for Fall 2017 and still take Chemistry in the spring, as long as it is completed prior to the start of the program.

Here's a direct quote from the FAQ section: "Completion of the three required prerequisite sciences is required upon the submission of your application. Completion of all prerequisites (with a minimum grade of C or better) is required prior to the start of the program."

Hope that helped!

Has anyone previously applied? There is a group interview with several questions, an essay portion, and then math. Unfortunately I didn't do so well on the math. It was basic math: long division, multiplication of larger numbers, fractions, and some word problems. It was simple but if you haven't practiced this kind of math in awhile I would brush up!

Is everyone applying for the 2 year program? I hear that they have started the interviewing process for the accelerated program. I submitted about a month ago, got my Solar log in and am just waiting now! I have my BS from Stony Brook

Does anyone know how many credits a semester you get in the BBP program?

71 total credits over two years, so something like 16 a term but several of those credits are the clinicals

Hey guys :)

i I just submitted my application, and just waiting on one more letter of recommendation. I feel like I'm so nervous that my heart is sinking lol! I was previously a student at the university of Pittsburgh but that didn't work out for me since I lost a lot of friends to suicide so I decided to continue my studies elsewhere. needless to say, my grades dipped, making my gpa a 3.0. BUT at my current school my gpa is a 3.8. I have done a lot of volunteer work and held a lot of leadership roles. I'm hopeful that those will help me get an interview! :)

what at was everyone else's app like??
