Stony brook accelerated nursing class of 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Just wanted to start this thread to see if anyone else has applied to the 12 month accelerated nursing program at stony brook!

I just got the call on Friday that I was removed off the alternate list and accepted into the program! So excited!!

Congrats and welcome!

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone can give me some information on this program. I want to apply this summer for next years accelerated nursing program, but I'm not sure if my GPA is too low. I have a 2.7 in my cumulative GPA, I messed up a lot in my undergraduate degree, but I picked it back up and tried to get my grades up. I have mostly As in my prerequisites courses, but willing to take some over if I didn't receive an A. You think because of my previous low GPA it will hurt my chances of getting in? I'm very worried because I really want to apply to this program and I'm afraid my GPA will stop me from getting in.

Don't let your low GPA discourage you from applying. However, 2.7 is indeed very low. If you can keep your prereq GPA to be 3.7 or higher, then that can help with your application.

Just make sure everything else in your application looks steller, for example: recommendation letter, personal statement, and resume.

You may be better off applying to a traditional program as oppose to an accelerated one.

Hello!

I applied to Stony Brook's Nursing Program as a transfer student and I got an Interview from them. My interview is tomorrow. If anyone can please advise or give suggestions to successfully go through the interview process. My interview is tomorrow at 1pm. I am really nervous and I really want to get into the program. Also, if someone can tell me more about the Math and the writing tests. Thank you.

Is anyone else still on the waitlist? I'm not feeling as optimistic as I did a couple of months ago. ☹ I know some people left the program for better opportunities. I'm wondering if others are contemplating leaving í ¾í´”

I gave up my spot a few weeks ago. Someone must have taken my spot by now :(

I know that April 15th was the last day to place your deposit, and I am aware of a few people who declined their offer at Stony Brook (at least four). My suspicion is that they will hopefully let those who are on waitlist know soon if they haven't already.

Thank you. I read of one person who was asked into the program a week after it started. That's stressful! Karen Allard told me last year they asked people that were enrolled in the two year program if they wanted to go into the accelerated program because they had open seats. We'll see.

::: fingers crossed :::

Hey! I know I'm really late to this. I got accepted to the program too. Cant wait to meet you all! Did anyone else notice that we have a HIPAA requirement now on Castle Branch? I'm not sure if I should just get an online compliance training

^ you may have better luck with an answer to that question on the accepted students fb group? :). Scroll back for the link

just got an email today offering an open seat for the 1 year program. I declined as I am enrolled in another program now but keep your eyes open for any emails coming in!! good luck to anyone still waiting :)
