It's almost september, which means people are starting to get their applications for nursing together real soon. I'm currently in the 1-yr nursing program here at Stony Brook. A previous alum started the 2014 thread for us, so I figured I do the same. Feel free to ask questions or message me with them. Good luck to everyone applying! :)
I too applied to Stonybrook and all of my application materials were officially submitted by September 18. I have been accepted to a few other nursing programs, but stonybrook is my top choice school and I'm getting nervous that I haven't received a call for an interview. Is anyone else in this situation? Thanks in advance!
Hey this for anyone who wanted information about the interview. There was a group of five faculty member and they interviewed us as a group. The interview was only 45 mins to an hour long. The brief exam is 50 mins for both math and writing. I would agree that you should review your basic math skill. It wasn't easy but it wasn't very difficult. Good luck to those of you who have already submitted an application.
Hello I recently applied to the accelerated program and my recommendation letters were submitted by the 16th...a little late but still on time. I haven't gotten a call for an interview and was naturally a little nervous until I saw this post and realized some others are in the same boat. Good luck to all!
Just a heads up - I have heard that if you are offered an interview this (obviously) does not guarantee you an offer of admission, but if you are not offered an interview this does not necessarily mean that have you been/will be rejected. So...you still have a chance to get in if you don't get called to interview.
Tbellx12, where did you hear this? Has Stony Brook ever interviewed before? Makes me feel a little better..
To those who have received a call for interview, approximately what time did SBU call you and did you happen to not pick up at the time and was notified from a message?
I am quite concerned because I am currently working and taking courses in buildings that have poor signal. So, I'm scared if I missed the call interview, I will never be notified again..
Jess W,
Did you submit your materials September 16th or October 16th. I'm concerned too because I applied over a month ago and I still haven't heard anything. Is there anyone we can call at stonybrook that would be able to better answer this? I called on Friday, but was just told a generic response of that applicants will receive news some time in November.

I submitted my materials by the end of September but I was waiting on one of my reccomenders to get my letter in. He didn't submit it until Oct. 16 and I know they won't review your application until after everything is already submitted. Don't stress too much about it, there's nothing we can do but wait & since it appears that the interview process is new I think everyone is a little unsure right now! Happy I found this forum though, it's nice to hear from people who are going through the process. Keep me posted and good luck!
