Stony Brook Accelerated Nursing Class of 2015

Published

It's almost september, which means people are starting to get their applications for nursing together real soon. I'm currently in the 1-yr nursing program here at Stony Brook. A previous alum started the 2014 thread for us, so I figured I do the same. Feel free to ask questions or message me with them. Good luck to everyone applying! :)

LAGD0208- Everyone was asked the same question and you had to answer in front of everyone, which was pretty nerve wracking.

Ok, I apologize for being THAT person, but....

...One more time, to reconfirm, we do NOT have to submit our official transcripts to the school (save the ones you upload with your application) unless you're admitted, correct? I've just seen/read some conflicting reports and am about to remortgage the house to pay for overnighting transcripts if need be. Virtual pumpkin spice latte to all who are far more wise than me and who've figured it out.

Also, ladies and gents, thank you so much for your incredibly helpful insight! It's remarkably comforting to know virtually everyone is in the same boat and that we're all blazing new trails together :o)

GoVeg- Thanks so much for this brilliant heads up! Admittedly, my math skills have slowly but surely deteriorated since taking the SATs years ago. I'll definitely be bugging the 3rd graders next door for help!

And Kris10marie, you most feel so relieved to be done!!

kris10marie- Was the writing sample similar to the personal statement or was it like a situation type essay where you have to write about a personal experience, etc?

I know that Stony Brook is conducting the interviews on a rolling basis, so just to give those of us who have not yet been called a general idea - those of you who have been interviewed: when did you submit your application, and how long after submitting until you received the call for an interview? Thanks!

@kris10marie: congrats on getting thru the interview process!! now the hard part is the waiting, which i would suggest finding something, like volunteering, seeing friends, travelling, picking up a hobby, watching tv, etc. to do to pass the time and occupy your mind. jan seems like forever away!

it's super awesome to hear (and see on this forum) that everyone is friendly and nice! they could be your potential classmates and then if they are, you guys can look back at that experience in the future and laugh about it :D but anyways, getting ahead of myself here.

Hi NeuroLK, you do NOT need to submit any official transcripts until you are admitted. All you have to do for the application is upload your unofficial ones. I mean, you CAN submit official ones now if you have extra copies laying around, and they'll just hold it on file for you. I was super confused about this too but I called them several times to confirm.

Oh, and I submitted my app around September 20ish and got a call to schedule an interview October 8.

Good luck everyone!! And kris10marie, thanks for all the help!!

Hi guys! I applied back in September and just got my call for an interview last week and I am so nervous! I think the fact that it is a group interview is whats throwing me off because I just don't know what to expect. Stony Brook has such an amazing program and is my number One school so I would be on Cloud 9 if I got in. Good Luck to everyone who go the call for their interviews well!

I applied last Tuesday and got called for an interview today. How exciting! Thanks to all on this thread who have given such useful info and advice.

I submitted my application in full on 8/28/13. I got a call last tuesday (while I was in the library studying, tried not to scream after I hung up!) and I scheduled my interview for 10/13/13. I know they've received over 600 applications and they said they are interviewing over 200 (a cryptic way of saying "we won't tell you exactly how many interviews were doing"). I'll be keeping busy with my job, class, and volunteer work so I don't lose my mind over the anticipation!

Hello I finished my application in the middle of September and about a month later someone called me in for the interview.
