Stony Brook Accelerated Nursing Class of 2015

Published

It's almost september, which means people are starting to get their applications for nursing together real soon. I'm currently in the 1-yr nursing program here at Stony Brook. A previous alum started the 2014 thread for us, so I figured I do the same. Feel free to ask questions or message me with them. Good luck to everyone applying! :)

Hello for those of you who had the interview already can you shine some light on the writing process. Do you remember your prompts? This is scary because I really dislike writing exams.

Hello, how long did they give you to finish writing the prompts?

Oh no I really wish I would have read this thread sooner .. I just posted my application today do you think I still have a chance for an interview?

Of course! I handed mine in on the 17th and it worked out just fine :)

That is good to know thanks ! Do you think they are also doing interviews for the 2 year program ?

I believe they are!

Hi All-

I'm just submitting my app but I have a quick question- for the education background where they ask you list your pre-reqs/grades/school they were taken in...do you just fill out the info for the program you're applying to? I've taken most of these classes but they are not requirements for the Accelerated program so should I not fill those out?

Also....what specific 2 year program is everyone talking about?

Thank you so much

If I remember correctly, there are some directions on the top of that page that say which boxes you should fill out if you are an accelerated applicant vs. a different program. I think for accelerated you fill out everything with the little red crosses. Just double check what it says to be sure :)

stony has a regular 2-year program and the accelerated 1-yr program. you learn the same stuff essentially in both, but of course, with the 2-yr program, its spaced out so you have more time to work/study/have a life. i think they also do more clinical hours, but i could be wrong on that. also, the 2-years get the opportunity to work at stony over the summer for a summer externship, so thats a great experience and opportunity to network, work one on one with patients, gain experience, etc. you can definitely apply to the 2-yr program as a backup in case you dont get into the 1-yr. however, i know some students who applied to both programs and got rejected from the 2-yr but accepted into the 1-yr. the deadline for the 2-yr is later.

If you were offered an interview. Would you mind sharing your credentials. I just submitted my application a few days ago and I am very nervous to hear back!

Hey guys! I just applied to the accelerated program the other day and I want to apply to the 2-year program as well. This might be a silly question but for those of you that applied to both programs, did you send the same personal essay? thanks for your help!

Just a heads up - I have heard that if you are offered an interview this (obviously) does not guarantee you an offer of admission, but if you are not offered an interview this does not necessarily mean that have you been/will be rejected. So...you still have a chance to get in if you don't get called to interview.
