Stony Brook Accelerated Nursing Class of 2015

It's almost september, which means people are starting to get their applications for nursing together real soon. I'm currently in the 1-yr nursing program here at Stony Brook. A previous alum started the 2014 thread for us, so I figured I do the same. Feel free to ask questions or message me with them. Good luck to everyone applying! :)

frustrating.. hopefully today tomorrow or next week we hear something. they are running out of time if they said we will all know by the new year so im thinking next week for the rest of the October interviews

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of you. I believe those of us who heard on 12/4 were given 10 days to respond, so perhaps that's how they're spacing out the waves of notifications?

I know it's crazy because I doubt they will be sending out anything Christmas week.. Another weird thing I never even went on an interview you would think they would have let people know who never interviewed they are not getting in first instead of keeping us waiting ... Who knows their methods to their madness but they Sure no how to keep things suspenseful

The change on SOLAR is obvious -- when you log in, you'll see a lot more info if you've been accepted. Ya can't miss it!

Don't lose hope! Even though I noticed my SOLAR account change a week or so ago, I just got the official email two days ago, so they are still coming!!! Anything can happen. Good luck to everyone.

When your account changes you will notice on the right hand side a link that says "admission decision"...right next to "view applicant information." It isn't under messages.

It will be a very obvious change on your Solar as bloodorange said. Not to mention, you should receive an e-mail. The options that now appear on my Solar include: "Security and Personal Data" "Campus Financial Service", "Campus Housing", "Student Employment Service" and a bunch of others. Trust us, you will definitely not miss it the second you sign in. Good luck to all that are still waiting to hear!

Hey everyone! Congrats to all who were accepted, I can't wait to meet you and start the program! I just have a quick question. Is anyone completing any classes this spring? I noticed on the admissions letter that all official documentation needs to be submitted by 5/23 including transcripts. Concerns me because classes usually don't end until around then. I'm sure they take that into account but just wanted to see what you all think. Good luck to those still waiting to hear!

ash6117, I am not sure why you have that tab with no decision made...did you try contacting anyone to ask? Maybe there is some technical error with your solar account.

JessW, Congratulations to you as well. I cannot wait to start the program too and meet everyone! I am actually finishing up the last of my pre-reqs this week, but I am sure you will have plenty of time to submit the transcripts after the spring semester. I think most of them end early may! Good luck with the last of your classes!

They will tell you that it needs to be submitted by then but I have a secret for you: no one keeps track. we had people on our class who didn't finish prereqs until right before and some people who didn't even graduate until after the program started. There was one person who actually didn't even take a prereq and had to take it during fall. I actually haven't even finished all my vaccines that should have been done by orientation.

However, if you tell them, you run the risk of them not letting you in. We had one person who, at orientation, mentioned his bachelors degree wouldn't be posted until the end of the first week and they basically suspended him and didn't let him come to class. If he had mentioned it before orientation, they probably would have rejected him. The people who didn't say anything about prereqs and graduation (and vaccines were never caught. I know it sounds risky but if I were you, I wouldn't say anything. Once your at orientation, they really want to keep you and will work really hard with you to work through the documentation. But if you tell them before then, who knows.
