It's almost september, which means people are starting to get their applications for nursing together real soon. I'm currently in the 1-yr nursing program here at Stony Brook. A previous alum started the 2014 thread for us, so I figured I do the same. Feel free to ask questions or message me with them. Good luck to everyone applying! :)
If this helps at all, I remember during my interview someone asked about the commute from brooklyn/queens and if it would be easier to get a place near the school. The staff basically said that there are plenty of students each year who commute from the city by train and they are fine and that shouldn't be a problem. I guess they really wouldn't want you to find a place to live out here if you couldn't afford it. But then again the price of the LIRR is expensive so its pretty much the same thing I guess. I only live 25 min away so I'll be commuting but i agree with you guys that it would probably be a lot easier living close to campus.
I live in Brooklyn now and can't imagine commuting every day, even with a car. I am spoiled because I grew up in St. James and my folks still live there, so I'll be within bikeable distance to SBUMC. (and if there were any extra bedrooms, I'd tell them to rent 'em out to you guys!) If I lived rent-free in Brooklyn or Queens, I guess I'd try to make that work too!

I will be commuting from Queens (Woodhaven) if anyone wants to carpool.
