Stony Brook Accelerated Nursing Class of 2015

Published

It's almost september, which means people are starting to get their applications for nursing together real soon. I'm currently in the 1-yr nursing program here at Stony Brook. A previous alum started the 2014 thread for us, so I figured I do the same. Feel free to ask questions or message me with them. Good luck to everyone applying! :)

I will be commuting from Queens (Woodhaven) if anyone wants to carpool.

DLH1086 - im also from Brooklyn and i dont think the commute would be doable honestly. its going to take out a lot of time from studying driving back& forth but ill be looking online closer to for any good housing deals. :)

If this helps at all, I remember during my interview someone asked about the commute from brooklyn/queens and if it would be easier to get a place near the school. The staff basically said that there are plenty of students each year who commute from the city by train and they are fine and that shouldn't be a problem. I guess they really wouldn't want you to find a place to live out here if you couldn't afford it. But then again the price of the LIRR is expensive so its pretty much the same thing I guess. I only live 25 min away so I'll be commuting but i agree with you guys that it would probably be a lot easier living close to campus.

okay soo if anyone hears today post it!.. since apparently no one on here heard last week im thinking this week we should hear!

I live in Brooklyn now and can't imagine commuting every day, even with a car. I am spoiled because I grew up in St. James and my folks still live there, so I'll be within bikeable distance to SBUMC. (and if there were any extra bedrooms, I'd tell them to rent 'em out to you guys!) If I lived rent-free in Brooklyn or Queens, I guess I'd try to make that work too!

Anna91: I agree with you. I will start looking as well. It's worth an attempt !

Thomasc: if the housing closer by happens to not work out, I may take you up on the carpooling! That will definitely be helpful instead of us having to commute individually every day! Thanks for mentioning!

At this point does anyone really think we'll get in? It's taking too long now.

yea im getting annoyed they are saying by the end of the year but i doubt that because they havent accepted anyone according to what people are saying on here since the 4th

My spirits are dwindling with each day that passes =( I just want to know one way or another!

well IF i get in im looking to live in stony even though i live in huntington.. i wouldnt want to drive 45 each way so IFFFF i get in i will be looking for a roommate

I only live in Sayville 20-40 minutes depending on traffic. But if I get in I kind of want a place up there if I need to crash or need some quite time for studying.

Does anyone know how many they accepted already?
