Stony Brook Accelerated Nursing Class of 2015

Published

It's almost september, which means people are starting to get their applications for nursing together real soon. I'm currently in the 1-yr nursing program here at Stony Brook. A previous alum started the 2014 thread for us, so I figured I do the same. Feel free to ask questions or message me with them. Good luck to everyone applying! :)

so if you took microbiology 315 in stony brook prior to spring 2012, you are in the clear and do not need the lab portion. i clarified with Karen Allard.

Hi Agnes, I know they said decisions end nov./beginning of dec. so I can't see them doing the interviews too much longer unfortunately... Has anyone received an interview call this week?

No, no call for an interview this week. I'm trying to be optimistic, but it's so disheartening :(

I know how you feel NeuroLk  ... Are you guys applying to any other programs at other schools?

NeuroLK, ash6117 - let's not lose hope yet ;) ....

I submitted my application for the accelerated program on Sept. 29th. No call for an interview. I know that you can still be accepted into the program if you do not get called for an interview, am I wrong in thinking that I will be receiving a rejection letter in the next few weeks?

My undergrad GPA is not great, but I got a 3.9 for my masters. I have 5 letters of recommendation, and I poured my heart into my essay. I am also a certified high school science teacher. Any one else with similar thoughts? I hate waiting.

I also hope that you can still be accepted even if you don't get called for an interview. I applied for the accelerated program on 10/17 and I haven't received a call for an interview yet. My undergrad GPA is 3.95 (4.0 pre-requisites), I have great references, and a strong personal statement. I can't even imagine how it would feel to get a rejection letter at this point.

I would feel better with a rejection if I had an interview because I would at least know they looked at my application. Good luck to you!

Hey guys,

I'm a little late on this, but I spoke with ********* (the program director for both the two-year baccalaureate and accelerated programs - she is also a member of the faculty panel during interviews) about whether those of us who have already interviewed for the one-year program would have to re-interview during the two-year program application process. She said: "That is up to the dean, but I am going to recommend that you do not re-interview, because we've already seen you." So there's that. Good luck everyone! We're getting closer and closer to decision time!

Has anyone heard directly from the program director or any staff not students if you don't get an interview you still have a chance of getting in?

Just out of curiosity, was anyone on the forum also in the 8AM interview group on Monday, October 28th?!

Thank you to those who's been so supportive with everyone through out this whole application process so far. I applied Oct. 17 and my interview is on Monday Nov. 11. I'm super nervous but after reading this thread, it definitely eased my nerves a little =]
