It's almost september, which means people are starting to get their applications for nursing together real soon. I'm currently in the 1-yr nursing program here at Stony Brook. A previous alum started the 2014 thread for us, so I figured I do the same. Feel free to ask questions or message me with them. Good luck to everyone applying! :)
I submitted my application for the accelerated program on Sept. 29th. No call for an interview. I know that you can still be accepted into the program if you do not get called for an interview, am I wrong in thinking that I will be receiving a rejection letter in the next few weeks?
My undergrad GPA is not great, but I got a 3.9 for my masters. I have 5 letters of recommendation, and I poured my heart into my essay. I am also a certified high school science teacher. Any one else with similar thoughts? I hate waiting.
I also hope that you can still be accepted even if you don't get called for an interview. I applied for the accelerated program on 10/17 and I haven't received a call for an interview yet. My undergrad GPA is 3.95 (4.0 pre-requisites), I have great references, and a strong personal statement. I can't even imagine how it would feel to get a rejection letter at this point.
Hey guys,
I'm a little late on this, but I spoke with ********* (the program director for both the two-year baccalaureate and accelerated programs - she is also a member of the faculty panel during interviews) about whether those of us who have already interviewed for the one-year program would have to re-interview during the two-year program application process. She said: "That is up to the dean, but I am going to recommend that you do not re-interview, because we've already seen you." So there's that. Good luck everyone! We're getting closer and closer to decision time!

so if you took microbiology 315 in stony brook prior to spring 2012, you are in the clear and do not need the lab portion. i clarified with Karen Allard.
