Stony Brook Accelerated Nursing Class of 2015

It's almost september, which means people are starting to get their applications for nursing together real soon. I'm currently in the 1-yr nursing program here at Stony Brook. A previous alum started the 2014 thread for us, so I figured I do the same. Feel free to ask questions or message me with them. Good luck to everyone applying! :)

Hey guys, so I had my interview today. There were only five questions (one asked by each member of the faculty panel). They asked all five of the questions and we (the group of five applicants) were asked to respond to each question, one at a time, in a different order for each question to make it as fair and comfortable as possible. Overall, I'd say the process went much smoother than I was anticipating. Right after the interview we were led into a computer lab to sit for the basic math exam/writing sample (50 minutes total, 25 minutes for each). Though they said to allot three hours of your time for the interview process, I was finished with the process in a little under two hours. Hope this helps, and, again, best of luck everyone!

I applied September 25 for the accelerated nursing program, got called for an interview on October 12 and had my interview last week on October 22. Just today I got an email saying that I got accepted into the program. I was told that we wouldn't hear for 4-6 weeks so I was completely shocked to see this, especially through email. Has anyone else got an acceptance via email this early?

Congrats!! Wow yea I do feel that is early I remember reading last year that people got emails around January I think? I guess they are trying to let people know earlier this year ... Just makes me nervous because I never even got a call for an interview :-( ... Also do any of you have a tab on solar that says admission decision? When I click on it says "you have no apications for which decisions have been made. You have already either accepted or declined all available decisions for your admissions application" ... Which is not true because I haven't heard anything yet .. Is this just a general message ?

Has anyone contacted ----? No avail here- I don't know if they're done with the interviews yet it if they're still calling. I haven't been called for an interview yet either :o(

ash6117- i just have a tab that says student admission -app status and it lists if the documents have been received.

Totally serious: I have heard "in passing" that one group was asked a "what animal would you be and why" question ... say what?? :p

ash6117- Thank you very much! When I went into my Solar account, I had to click on the admissions decision tab and then it basically said, Congratulations, do you accept or decline this offer of acceptance. Once I clicked "accept" the tab still remained there but if I go back into it, it says that I already made a decision. So when you click on that tab, it doesn't say anything about accept or decline? I am not sure why it says that. Maybe it is just there until they make a decision. Good luck!

ash - it just shows me that my documents were received and it says apply to admission to see status.. idk what that means but I attended stony brook before so maybe thats why it may be different on my screen
