Stony Brook ABSN Class of 2022

Stony Brook School of Nursing has recently opened the undergraduate application portal for the 2021 school year. I was part of an allnurses thread for their Basic BSN program last year, and the information and support from other applicants was amazing; so I jumped on creating a thread for this cycle as soon as applications became available.

Any questions or even just casual discussion about the program is more than welcome! Can’t wait to talk to all of you. ?

Me too. At this point, I'd be fine with a rejection. I just want to know so I can plan accordingly ughhhh

To be honest I don’t think we will hear anything today since it’s past 3PM... 

few years back the program sent out decisions in mid to late December now it’s pushed back an entire month. And right now the nursing students are on Winter break so there’s no classes aka the staff should have more time? Don’t understand what’s taking so long, unless they're so conflicted that they’re waiting for people to back out by pushing the decision date further back, forcing those with other acceptances to enroll in another program.

Someone in this thread had said that they got their decision last year on January 9th. I’ve also heard that they usually interview 150 students per year for 80 spots, but this year they interviewed 200 students. So I’m assuming those extra 50 students might have something to do with it? Just spitballing.

The endless waiting is eating me alive from inside out. And this school is my last shot at getting into a program so all my eggs are in this basket right now ughhhhh

same here... if I don't get in, my plans are ruined... I was supposed to start at another school this month, now all I have left is SB.

Hang in there everyone!

I know this waiting game has been a roller coaster of anxiety and other emotions. Felt like coming on here to uplift anybody that could use it. We will hear eventually! 

If you don’t get in, keep pushing for your dream or that plan b etc. It all seems so uncertain now, but you will figure it out in good time. Hang in there ?

If it makes you feel not so alone, I’m pretty darn miserable LOL I graduated in May so I’m in my gap year right now. If I don’t get in this gap year will see no end

Hey guys. I just emailed Karen from admissions, and she said that decisions are delayed but should be out shortly. Hopefully that alleviates any concern/worry out there!
