Stony Brook ABSN Class of 2022

Published

Stony Brook School of Nursing has recently opened the undergraduate application portal for the 2021 school year. I was part of an allnurses thread for their Basic BSN program last year, and the information and support from other applicants was amazing; so I jumped on creating a thread for this cycle as soon as applications became available.

Any questions or even just casual discussion about the program is more than welcome! Can’t wait to talk to all of you. ?

I love your bio!

?? hopefully it will somewhat be the story of my career.

UPDATE for all waiting for a second wave:

I was fortunate to get an invite to interview yesterday, but I also received an email today saying that if we don't sign up for an interview date by end of day today, they will start to give invites to other folks. I do not know if this means that they have sent out all their invites to everyone yesterday, and that a second wave is referring to those first round invites that did not sign up for an interview in time.

To everyone who scheduled an interview: what was the latest date that was offered to you to interview? If they’re going up until January, I think that means more invites will be sent out.

The only choices I had were Nov 9th and Nov 16th.

What Aaron said. There were only two dates available, which were the 9th and 16th. Each day had three times to choose from.

Im happy to see decisions will be made by  early January!

The wording is a bit confusing. Hopefully it means that they have a second wave, and that if certain people don’t sign up tonight, they’ll have a few extra slots to offer other applicants. We’ll see, I guess. Thank you for sharing this information,@futurenurseaaron!

thanks @futurenurseaaron and @freddyJ620 !! Super helpful info ?

It is a little disheartening because there was a high volume of applications and minimal slots available. But we haven’t been rejected until they send us a notice. So everyone keep hope alive and of course good luck on your interviews to those who were invited.

Hi, everyone!

I know some people are in a similar situation as me when it comes to the timing of SBU's decision and other schools.

I had put down a deposit at another school that starts at the end of January before I was offered an interview at SBU. I was wondering if anyone knows if this will prevent me from receiving an acceptance or from matriculating if I were to be accepted at SBU.

I know some schools don't allow students who have been previously in other nursing programs, but it does not say anything about that on the SBU site. I might be registered in classes by the end of this month at this other school, but I won't pay the tuition until I receive a response from SBU and classes start 01/25/20 so IDK if that will count as being enrolled.

If no one knows that answer, I was wondering who you recommend to ask. Pamela seems pretty cold and terse with her responses (I'm sure she's drowning in e-mails at this time so I definitely understand). Thank you for being such a supportive community!!

Hey guys I also received the interview invitation but didn't see it until now and thankfully I was able to still secure a spot for Monday at 12pm. I am so nervous because this leaves me with hardly any time to prepare. I wish you all the best of luck, and if anyone wants to share their study methods or advice for the math portion of the exam--feel free :).
