STNA training class at Bath Manor

Published

I saw a posting on Monster today about an 11 day STNA training class at Bath Manor in Akron, OH. Is anyone else thinking of going to this?

I only applied to one school (Kent State) for their accelerated BNS program, but if I don't get in, I'm thinking doing the STNA thing would be a good idea to gain experience until the next school deadlines come around...

Just got done with the test, it wasn't bad at all and I hadn't really prepared for it, except to go over a practice test the night before. Glad that's out of the way! Now I just need to turn in my application and wait and see!

Was the science portion hard? I stopped in there at noon to pick up more information on the nursing program. I am thinking about taking the teas. I wonder how many applicants are going to apply for the January start date. About how many questions on way part were there?

The science portion wasn't too bad, it asked some chem stuff that I probably would of missed if I hadn't just taken a chem class recently, so go over the periodic table and know about valence electrons and basic stuff like that, but overall, it was pretty straightforward. It had a lot of fraction questions in the math part. Like dividing and adding them...which I completely forgot how to do! Felt like a nerd..haha. I think each part had about 40 questions, and the last part (English) had 55, but that section went fast. It was mainly paragraphs with underlined parts and you have to determine whether it's correct or not.

I reviewed this last night and I think it helped me a lot.

It seems to go over a lot of geometry and anatomy, which I only had one question each, so I studied way too much on that stuff, but I guess you never know.

The lady who talked to us before the test said they get about 150 applying for January, 55 applying in May and 200 applying for September. I didn't realize they only select 30 people, and it's only based on your gpa and TEAS test score.

Let me know if you have any other questions and if you think you'd be applying for the Jan start date. =)

Thanks for the link. I think I will take the test next month and hope I get in January, if not I will def try for the summer start date. The Summer would probably be better, I have to start saving what I can for this new journey. I told my husband last night about how much I thought it might cost and he about fainted. BUt he is still supportive.

I am most worried about the science portion of the TEAS. I am going to have to brush up on the part big time. I did really well in high school in those courses but I havent touched that area in study for a long time ( I have my BA in International Business). I took Chemistry in college for first semester and that was in 1999. Was there vocabulary on this test?

Hi, I have been looking for STNA classes in the Medina County area. I want to take classes while I am on maternity leave (which is now, through approximately mid November). I need to take the classes in order to register for the LPN program at the Medina County Carreer Center. I have to have my STNA by the time I register for the LPN class, which I believe registration is in January, to start next fall. Does anyone have any information on local STNA classes? I want get this done in as little time as possible. I found a place in Bedford, which was relatively cheap ($475) and on weekends, done in one month. But it is about an hour drive for me, and I really don't want to drive that far. Any ideas would be greatly aprreciated, I have read the advertisements for the Bath Manor classes in my local Trading Post newspapers, but I figured there was probably some kind of stipulations to that. I really want to get my nursing degree, even if its just an LPN, I can always take and LPN to RN bridge course in the future. The company I currently work for is supposed to shut down next year, and I really need a better, more stable carreer.

I got my STNA license there back in 2000. It was short and sweet and they do testing there on-site or at least they did. Lot's of things have changed. It's no longer free as it was back then.

after reading the threads i guess i was lucky back in 200 to test and pass. science. we had none it was a 1 week course and no science just the skills and such that we had to learn

Are there any males taking this course? I am a male and have been in the healthcare field for about 11 years working in the field of prevention. Grant funds and other types of monies are now getting tougher to acquire without any certifications. Was thinking about pursuing becoming a STNA after visiting a nursing home and seeing how the presents of a male could come in handy when lifting and moving individuals. Currently I am employed but looking for a part-time third shift job to help pay bills.

I'm not sure if there are males enrolled in the training program at Bath Manor. However, I no there are males enrolled in programs throughout the State. Please keep in mind that you would have to go through the same interview process as a female STNA would have to. Your status as a Male doesn't hold when entering the field. Women can do just about the same lefting as a male and some can do it better and I am a male.
