STLCC / A&P1

Published

For all the Pre-nursing students out there who have taken A&P1 and passed it with a B or better, what was your strategy? This class is very difficult and I am trying to come up with a strategy for this lab practical that is coming up in 1 week? I am really good with memorization but my teacher insist that it takes more than that to pass her class! So I don't know what else to do, PLEASE HELP someone:crying2:!!! If you attended STLCC and took Mrs. Avarez course, then we defenitely need to talk:typing!!! I think she is a GREATTT teacher and I love that I picked her but even she admits that it is a little fast paced!!!

yes, when taking physiology with anatomy, there is much more than memorization that needs to be involved. i normally studied until i could clearly explain it (whatever system i was working on) to someone. for example, instead of just memorizing the parts of the heart, i made sure i could explain the pathway of blood flow and mention all the parts involved.

i know it may sound difficult to do but, the more you expose yourself to the material, the more familiar and comfortable it will become. believe it or not, you will get the hang of it if you put in the hard work.

I feel your pain..I'm taking A&P I now and dare I say it..it's kicking my butt! I got a freakin C on the first exam. No one got an A..there were like 3 or 4 Bs..some C's..majority D's and F's!

We have our 1st pratical on tomorrow and I've been studying ALL weekend. The problem with the professor is he says 1 thing is going to be on the exam..but it's full of other stuff. I don't trust him now so I'm studying EVERYTHING!

I guess I'll just have to work harder. Even though our lowest grade on exams will be dropped..I am DETERMINED to get an A in this class..

I'm taking A&P 1 at STLCC with a different teacher than you and am trying to study for the first lab exam this week. I don't know how it's possible to remember all this stuff. Good luck with your test.

I made flash cards and used the supplement software to quiz my self it is alot of memory based stuff. Yes def. study the flow of the blood this will help. Its a very time consuming class but i loved it.

I took A&P I at STLCC back in the day (dating myself here....2001). I would read the text before lecture, attend class (I would frequently record lecture and take good notes), and study frequently using the text, notes, and recordings. I would sometimes rewrite my notes using these three tools for concepts I found extremely difficult (some concepts came easy to me, some were the equivalent of understanding a foreign language). I had a pretty long commute to school, so I would listen to the recordings on my way to take the test as well.

Best of luck!
