I'll be starting my first nursing job on a pulmonary unit in a few weeks. Should I get the Littmann Classic II or Littmann Cardiology III? I've heard they're both great stethoscopes, though one naturally costs more than the other. Any opinions?

okay, i voted before i read your entire post.
if you will be working directly with heart/lungs then it would be a good idea to spend a little more money on the stethoscope that was made for use in that field! (:

Sounds like you are going to be listening to lungs all day long ....Master Cardiology or the STC. I would pick the STC because of the rubber finger holds. Less noise from moving your fingers. I have the master cardiology now, which is also a very good scope but I wish I had bought the STC.
Spend the money...you are a professional now, look like someone who cares about your craft.

Is this the stethoscope you're referring to?

No knowledge about your particular needs. Just wanted to say I am jealous you get to use your own stethoscope. Working on a lymphoma/leukemia floor, most patients are on precautions and have a disposable in each of their rooms. I have a Classic II that doesn't get used :-(.

I just want to say...if you get it from Medisave.net they will engrave your name/title on the diaphragm! It looks very nice!

Starting an ABSN program in August, and I just bought the Cardio III from medisave.net - free engraving and a 5% off promo code! My total was about $25 cheaper than other sites. Feeling pretty proud of myself - ha!
yep, I think it is the best overall.
Which one? Earlier you stated the STC or Master Cardiology. Now it seems you're agreeing with moggsy regarding the Cardio III. By the way, I just looked at my other stethoscope from nursing school and realized that I already have the Classic II se, so I obviously won't be getting it again. Upgrade time!
