YOU GO TOM!!!!!!! :roll :roll
Work is always better when you enjoy what you're doing! I did that once...I was working as a receptionist at this one company, and on nights and weekend, I worked at a movie theatre. I chose the movie theatre over the reception job and a year later I was the manager! I loved that job. :)
Tom,
I hear ya! I have been in ER over 20yrs and I am a Nurse Clinician on 3-11.(steady charge with some management responsibilities)
I'm getting a total hip replacement in July. I'm tired of management BS and 3-11.
When I come back I plan to step down and be just plain staff and rotate to 7-3.
Hopefully with my new hip I will be able to keep up with the younger generation.
Hey, maybe I can play some golf. I like it, but I'm not very good.
Good luck to you and your golf game!
Tom!!!!!
Doesn't it feel GREAT???? I've been an ER nurse for 17 years and was recently pulled from my asst. supervisor position to be a 4 nurse documentation team working with docs and their documentation on medicare patients. We've recaptured 1 million $$ in 6 months and the big boys are singing our praises. I'm Mon-Fri., no weekends, no holidays. I should be on cloud nine, right???? Well, it sucks! I miss making a difference to patients at the bedside and can't take much more of the political crap that gets deeper the higher you go. I'm soon returning to my three 12 hour shifts in the ED and can't wait! The Mon-Fri work week is sooooooooo hard after having days off during the week. There is NEVER time to golf-if I did golf (heehee)--or anything else! Did ya see David Letterman after his CABG? He introduced all his Dr's and shook their hands on his show. But when he got to his nurse he grabbed her and HUGGED her! I want to be the one getting the hugs! (Not from ALL the ED patients, mind you!) So, collect your hugs and ENJOY! Is is polite to play through if we see you sleeping on the greens??????

Howdy yall
From deep in the heart of Texas
Well this is let evryone know that after 14 and 1/2 years as charge nurse and assistant nurse manager That Ive voluntarily elected to step down to a Staff ER position. Ive been there, fought the battles, won a few lost many. Been to meetings and PI projects and committees to numerous to mention. The number of meetings is always increaseing, and I kept getting a little farther away from patient care. I finally decided this wasnt what I wanted to do, so I gave it up. And Im so much happier for it. I am really enjoying just taking care of patients and not haveing to deal with all the other things that go with the assistant nurse manager role. But after nearly a decade and a half, Ive paid my dues. Its time to get back to being a nurse and that is what I went to school for anyway. And besides less meetings which for somebody who always works nights meant coming in during the time when the sun is up. And when the sun is up, Im more concerned about golf. I guess thats a sign Im getting older. But Ive worked hard to get here, so Im going to enjoy it. And of course play MORE GOLF
