STCC Nursing Fall 2009

Published

Hello! I just received my acceptance package to STCC for the fall of 2009. I am kinda shocked I actually made it in! Just wanted to see if there were anyone else on this forum who got in. :)

i haven't received anything about the grant for the phone...hmmm

info on pda's and id's are on the first thread of this page.

Jen, I didn't get the e-mail either.. I had a friend deliver the info, and also gave me the professor's e-mail address so I could e-mail her so she could put me on their e-mailing list.. maybe it was an issue w/ the way they entered mine? I don't know. I will PM you.

The professors send all emails through blackboard, so if you do not have a blackboard account, the emails got to your stcc student email. As soon as you can, you should go to blackboard and update your profile. Put in your home email and phone numbers. Another thing that you should do if you haven't is set up your stcc email address to forward all email to your home email. You wont want to miss anything because sometimes they wont mention something in class and they aren't going to go hunting for your email. Also, if there is a holiday or change in the schedule on the college calendar (like a Tuesday that says the college follows a Monday schedule) make sure to verify with the nursing dept if it affects you because they don't go by the normal college calendar.

That must be my problem, because I don't have a blackboard account. The professor that sent the e-mail out referred me to the guy who sets up the blackboard accounts but he's on vacation until the 15th. And they haven't sent anything to my STCC e-mail address either ): I KNOW I'm missing out on a ton of information, because students have told me they already have the entire semester's schedule up and ready on blackboard.. plus other stuff.

I seem to remember something about the user id and password for blackboard being the same as either your web advisor or student email account? You might give that a try to get into blackboard if you can.

It was because I didn't have a summer course that my blackboard account wasn't made yet, I guess. But the professor told them to make me one so now I have one but there is no info on it.. I don't get it.

I tried to log on blackboard with the last password given over a year ago and to my surprise it worked. I was able to print a ton of forms that we will be using on the first semester.

Ahh this is so frustrating, how come I can't see any of that information ):

the following info. was put on today:

fyi:

you do not need to buy the ultrascope. it is a suggestion. if you have a good stethoscope that is comparable to the ultrascope or the [color=#8b1a1a][color=#330000]littmann classic ii s.e. stethoscope, that is fine. [color=#330000]please make sure your is durable. if you have any questions please email me

tue, aug 04, 2009 -- [color=#003399]nurs-102.am: lab fee

i was just notified from the bookstore that the lab kit fee is going to be around $136. what will happen is that you pay the bookstore for the lab kit. save the receipt!!!! you will need to bring the receipt the first day of school so we can distribute the kits. if you do not have your receipt, i cannot provide a lab kit.posted by: theresa glanville spacer.gif

tue, aug 04, 2009 -- [color=#003399]nurs-102.am: skills checklist for learning resource center

i have noticed that the skills ckecklist book "skill checklist to accompany taylor's clinical nursing skills" 2nd ed was inadvertently left off the textbook list. i spoke with jason in the bookstore today and he informed me that they will be available before school starts. sorry for the inconvenience. this is a required textbook and we will be using this book every week in the learning resource center. thank you.

wed, jul 29, 2009 -- [color=#003399]nurs-102.am: grant approval

fyi: the grant for the use of smartphones was fully funded!! doe to the fact that we were notified so late in the summer, we will not be holding any classes during the summer! so, on the first day of class you will get your phone and the following week we will hold classes. a letter will be mailed out to you in the next couple of weeks in regards to the time and place for this information.

also, i need to know a couple of other things:

1. please email me with the name of the phone service you utilize (verizon, at&t etc)

2. please email me if you are able to access blackboard.

thank you and i look forward to working with you.

mon, jul 06, 2009 -- [color=#003399]nurs-102.am: psychiatric textbook

for your information: there were 2 people who purchased the townsend psychiatric mental health nursing book (hard cover). this is not the correct book that we ordered. we ordered the essentials of psychiatric mental health nursing (soft cover). jason (text book manager) informed me that he will exchange the books for you when it comes in. they were just ordered today. thank you for your time and patience with this.
