Hi, I was just wondering if there were any other students (or alumni or instructors) from Springfield Technical Community College on here.
it will be nice once this test is over. i'm feeling pretty good about it though. how was simulation? i have it this week....i'm kinda nervous about it for some weird reason. i'm not staying up till midnight to register, i'll hop on early before i leave for 8am lab. i'm much rather be well rested for my test. i've heard a few hints about what would be on the test but not like it was for the first one. i'm just going to concentrate on the notes and those parts in the chapters. good luck everyone!!!
i hope your simulation goes well - it wasn't what i expected. all the groups had to work together which wasn't told to us ahead of time. group a did simulation and group b watched from the video room then group b went in and picked up where group a left off while group c watched and so on so if one of the first groups missed something the next group had to do it. it was supposed to resemble the real world. yoou should know that the phone in the simulation room works so if you have a question about one of the med orders you can use it to call the "doctor". that wasn't told to us and it would have come in handy because we kind of just said "oh, we'll have to check with the doctor on this order" when in a real situation we would have gone and asked for clarification we didn't know what was expected of us - to just catch the mistakes in the orders or to leave the room during our simulation and ask, the last group realized the phone had an extension for the doctor written on it and picked it up and someone said hello and answered the med question. i guess it seems kind of obvious now but we all missed that.
you had gotten hints on what to study for the first exam? lucky you, i think i need to open my ears because i haven't gotten any clues! i feel alot of pressure though maybe because i did well on the first exam not sure, but usually i am confident and i am nervous!
I actually just started my pre-req's this semester. I plan on applying next fall for the 2010 nursing program if that makes sense. I saw that there is a math for nursing class that is only available online, is this a separate class from med-calculations?
The on-line class is the one that you need to take - I think it is called math for meds or something like that. Good luck with all of your pre-req's I had a wonderful prof for A&P and Micro, I learned so much - if you ask around on campus I am sure that you can get some good recommendations on prof. since we can't name names on here. STCC looks closely at your science grades so study well and I am sure you'll be fine!
i do i do!! haha quite frequently actually. i am very nervous for our last exam and final. i have been studying a little bit everyday tho, which is working out better than cramming in info all at once. i have learned i have to read thru each question carefully and find out what they are exactly looking for. i am relieved that clinical and lab is over, but the next 2 weeks r gunna be a tad stressful haha
I still do on occasion as well. I check for new threads I might be interested in reading when I feel like wasting some free time lol. Sometimes you can really find some great advice or information from others. Personally, in regards to personal care, I thought "choke it like a chicken" was great advice and hilarious. Gotta love allnurses.com
Thank goodness clinical is over with and lab, minus the workshop we really don't have to do anything but study! If we had other work to do, I would probably die of stress and fail these next exams. Though I still have my presentation too, blah. All fingers crossed that most people will leave by the time they call me! Good luck to everyone these next two weeks!
"Choke it like a chicken" LOL what were they referring to? I'm super stressed about these next 2 exams but luckily we have nothing besides the workshop like you said!!
Can you guys believe how fast this semester has gone by? Good luck to all of you these next few weeks! Keep in touch for support! We'll all do great! :hngon:
They were talking about male perineal care, someone had posted they had anxiety over pulling back the foreskin. So that's what led to the choke it like a chicken comment. LoL. That's the link to it if you were curious.

:chuckle I needed that after hours of studying!
Hey guys, I have posted here before with a few questions about the program and you were all really helpful, so I have another question for you!
I believe the deadline for applying is march? I'm not positive on this since I won't be applying until March of 2010, not this upcoming March.
Anyway, my question is does it effect your chances of getting in if during the spring semester that you apply you are currently enrolled in pre-req courses?
To make this a bit clearer I intend on applying by March of 2010. I also intend on taking my last 2 pre-reqs (microbiology and growth and development) for the spring semester of 2010. That means when I apply I will currently be enrolled in pre-reqs and will not have my grades for those classes yet.
Has anyone been in this situation or did you have absolutely all of your pre-reqs COMPLETED before you applied in the spring?
Thank you!
