Staying organized

Published

Hey,

I've been using my iCal and Homework+ apps on my iPhone to keep myself organized, but I've been thinking about switching to a regular diary planner. I'd love to hear how everyone stays organized and what their preference is!

Good day:

While I did get the uncalendar, I found myself going back to google calendar on my desktop and android-based smart phone. Add in Evernote from htttp://www.evernote.com/ and I'm set for staying organized.

Thank you.

This is pretty much what I do. I looked over the syllabus for my classes at the beginning of the semester, and punched in all the due dates for everything on their respective days. It's been keeping me on track really well.

I bought a giant office calendar. It's very plain and you can get them at walmart or any office supplies store. I hang it on my wall with every single test date for the semester highlighted in a specific color for each class. For example, pharmacology is always pink, health assessment is always orange, med surg is always yellow, etc. Then I use a hand held planner for assignments, meetings, papers, etc. I also write the tests in the planner again. The more I see the test dates the easier it is for me to gauge how much time I need for studying. Personally, I use my phone for everything and I need something that is separate and specifically for organizing school work. Hope this helps!

I use a combination of a paper planner I picked up from target (that I love because it has a checklist style setup so if I complete something early I just go check it off and know it's done)

and google calendar.....

I just like paper planners better than an app for the most part (but love the convenience of being able to look it up no matter where I am on my phone which is why I use both)

I use an "At-A-Glance" Academic calendar (on the website it's number is 70-958). It is wonderful for me because it has an entire week on two pages and each day in broken into 15 min. intervals which is easier for me to plan in. I use a series of post-it's, washi tape, and colored pens to get everything in a order where it makes sense to me. Here is an example of what a typical week looks like in my day planner:

I still put things in my google calendar to remind me when I'm on the go but this is my master planner and I live by it

I have no idea why there is that HUGE picture of the planner again. :roflmao:

I just bought an Erin Condren calendar and absolutely LOVE it! I'm hoping it keeps me organized this and next semester!

I use a planner because I am too lazy to go in and type it on the computer or my cell phone like some people do.

I start by putting everything from the syllabus onto the planner.

I use one i can carry in my purse for convenience , the At a glance weekly/monthly :)

Evernote is also available as an iPhone app through the App Store.

I use a lot... Like, a lot.. Or at least, it feels like a lot! lol Here are my tools;

-Daily planner - has all the due dates, expected study material, and idealized exam days.

-Syllabus - daily check up, it allows me to mark things off immediately, also letting me figure out what I have left, and what I need to prep for.

-Excel Spreadsheet - This allows me to write the real due dates(we sometimes get behind), and gives me the advantage of keeping track of my grades.

-Grading app on my phone

-GPA Calculating app on my phone

Those are my tools! Felt like a lot more before I wrote it out! lol

We all receive a block schedule from our program with a weekly list. I then also have a monthly planner book that I use which I then add all the "non-nursing school" items into. My husband then puts all my scheduled things into google for himself, since that's the way he prefers it. I recommend using multiples. It helps.
