Hi. I'm new here and I have the same dilemma with laochinti.
I just pass the June2008 local board in the Philippines. I have plans of taking the New york board but while I was reading the requirements I got confused with the child abuse and infectious course. Am I not exempted from taking the course since I haven't work yet in a hospital here?
New York is my destination since my sister lives there.
Thank you.

The course has to be done as part of the application, is done on-line and not that expensive. We haven't seen many NY hospitals offering petition for foreign nurses so may want to re think your plan. We have seen people posting that they have struggled to find employers in NY that have OPT and had to move out of state to use it. They trained in NY but were international students. If they are struggling then you definitely will

Hello there, I am also a Filipino and a NCLEX passer. The remedy for your problem is this:
First, file an exemption for the child abuse training.
Second, if you passed the exam, a letter or a form will be send to you together with your license, sign the exemption to train (infection control), choose the first one.
Remember, as long as you are in the Philippines, you can not hurt any American citizen, that is young or old.
You should not be given any exemption for any course that is a requirement for licensure and that goes for any state in the entire US.
Each of these two required courses only costs $15 or so, and no reason not to complete them. Does not matter where one is located, rules are rules and they need to be followed.
yes, no one is excepted to that! you still have to undergo the seminar, if things changes, in which you have to notify the board before you set in the states (with in 30 days).
if that is a vital part for examination then, how does other nurses in the philippines, take their exam? i personally know someone, who took the ny state, and passed. plus, she receive her certificate.
just read the bottom part of form 1ce. it said " i also understand that should the nature of my practice change to the extent that the basis for exemption ceases to exist, i am obligated to notify the department in writing and complete the required training."
These two courses cost $15 each and take about an hour to complete.
Not sure what the big deal is to get them done since they are required. Especially since one is already paying for the CVS report, the application to NY, as well as the VSC.
$15 is nothing more than a cab ride in NY.
-------------------------------------
When one wishes to work in the US, then they must meet the requirements for that state. Not sure why anyone thinks that they should be exempt from a requirement. And they would be breaking the law if they worked one day in NY and did not have those two classes completed. Adn would be subject to actually losing their license to ever practice there.
Always best to do what is required in the first place.
For those who are going to take the online course in Infection Control and Child Abuse, just visit www.elearnonline.net. It's the site recommended to me by NYSED. Once you're done with the exam, you can immediately download the certificate. So easy!

but is there an expiration for the eligibility?
