Hey guys, was wondering if anyone can tell me what average starting wage for an rn in columbus ohio is? Thinking about moving there after school and just wanted some first hand knowledge. Thanks.

Depends on where you plan to work. Childrens starts at 22$/hr. Riverside and OSU are about the same. Can't say for Mt Carmel and St Anns, but no matter where you go, I think starting is about 22-25$hr. (typical for large city work)

once you are hired to a floor and properly oriented they could very well offer OT.

Does anyone what the shift diffs are for OSU, Ohiohealth, and Children's? I believe I've heard that Ohiohealth's is $4.75

Yes, Ohio Health's starting rate for new grads is $22.75 with a $4.75 shift diff....hourly rates are evaluated in July each year, so that rate may go up a bit.

thats pretty much the pay here in FL.
but let me ask you,
how is the cost of living?
we pay here for a townhouse, mortgage $1,879/month plus utilities, association fees, pool house fees.... and that is not including the car, insurance, alarm, cable... etc etc.
just wondering.

I have lived in several big cities before (D.C. and Baltimore) and it is a LOT lower than there. Housing is very reasonable and I understand it to be lower than in Florida (from what I know from friends who live down there). We do have a higher tax liability than many states, so that adds up...but I think we have a good cost of living situation here.

My wife is from Columbus, and I'm in nursing school, about to graduate in December with my BSN. I'm applying for the OSU RN Residency program and was wandering if anyone knows anything about this program. Specifically how many people are accepted, and generally what the program is like. Any info will help. Thanks!
I work for Ohio Health, and I'm pretty sure that the starting hourly rate is $23.21 (that could be off by a few cents, but that's pretty close). Shift differential is $4.75 and weekend differential is also $4.75. Hope that helps!
