Anyone who has done the UCH Residency Program?
hi damailarn, i was wondering if you were interviewing for the program which begins in october. also, do you know when the application process begins for the march portion? and, lastly, if you are from colorado? i'm in alabama, and would love to live in denver and work for uch. the problem i run into so much is that hospitals are partial to people from the state they are located, and there aren't very many options in the alabama area as far as nurse residency programs.

Vanderbilt Nurse Residency winter 2011 cohort
Dang, I got turned down. My GPA is 3.77, I have a previous degree, and 3 years work experience for Marriott International, but because of my lack of recent work experience and volunteer experience, I got turned down. Oh well, one door closed is another opened somewhere. Good luck to you all!!!

starting wage columbus ohio
My wife is from Columbus, and I'm in nursing school, about to graduate in December with my BSN. I'm applying for the OSU RN Residency program and was wandering if anyone knows anything about this program. Specifically how many people are accepted, and generally what the program is like. Any info will help. Thanks!

Vanderbilt's Nurse Residency Program
I too am applying for the 2011 residency and my question is regarding men who apply. From what I can tell from looking at prior classes, there really aren't that many men in the classes. It's approximately 10%. Is it just that a lot of men don't apply, because I'd like to assume that being male or female doesn't matter. Any takers?

University of South Alabama Accelerated Nursing Program - July 2010
I'm currently in the program right now. Here's some info from the inside which may be helpful to you. First of all, the program is moving to the Baldwin County campus for all accelerated students starting in the summer. This is a HUGE positive thing because Fairhope is a beautiful place to be. The program is manageable. Grant it, I'm only averaging about 4 hrs of sleep each night because of the work, but at the end of each rotation, you'll get a significant amount of time off to recupe. The program is very writing intensive, mainly because you'll be in 5 master's level classes. So, I hope you like to write. But above all, the program is excellent and the professors are far better than anything I've ever experienced. I'm thoroughly enjoying this program you'll be surprised how much you learn in such short periods of time. Good luck, and let me know if you have any more questions or concerns. Jerry Balentine

South Alabama Accelerated BSN Spring 2010 Students
My prereq GPA was a 3.7, but I know a few people who got in with a lower GPA. Unfortunately, GPA is everything. The program is great though. Very strenuous, but managable. Good luck with applying and feel free to ask any questions. Jerry

Also, here is a 1 bedroom apartment at Bay Vista, which I've heard is really nice, for $499 a month. It's in a perfect location for the program too. http://mobile.craigslist.org/apa/1493640999.html

I would say living in north Daphne or Spanish Fort would be the best option, since most of our clinicals will be in Mobile, but we'll be going to class in Fairhope. My wife and I found a town house in Daphne for $700 a month, which is really good compared to much smaller apartments. You may come out cheaper renting a house, as opposed to renting an apartment if you want more than one room. http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-search/Daphne_AL/type-rentals is a good website for rentals in Daphe and http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-search/Spanish-Fort_AL/type-rentals?sby=1&pgsz=3 for Spanish Fort. Just type in the city and be sure to click on rentals, and there will be a pretty big list of rental houses, townhouses, and condos. Also http://www.southalabama-coastalareamls.com/search.asp?rental=true is a good website to find rentals as well. Good luck!

South Alabama Accelerated BSN Spring 2010 Students
I have been accepted to the accelerated BSN program at South Alabama for the spring 2010 semester, and I was just wondering if anyone else has been accepted. We could all unofficially "meet" before the semester begins and we could ask each other questions concerning the program, etc. BTW, I'm Jerry from Mobile, AL, and I'm looking forward to next semester!
