Starting nursing school with a 3 year old

Published

Hi! I am a pre nursing student and I applied for the practical nursing program this September 2016. I am a little hesitant about starting this year because I have a 2 year old son but he will be turning 3 when I start the program. I have had people tell me I should wait until he is 5 and in Kindergarden. But I have been working really hard these past 2 years completing these prerequisites. I will be finished my last prerequisite next month. As I said, I applied already and I am very excited to start it. Any advice for me? Should I just go ahead and start the program this September or should I wait a couple more years?

I'm glad I found this thread! I'm kinda freaking out because I have less than a year before I start my nursing program and I'm pregnant with my 3rd right now. When I start, I'll have a 4 yr old, a 2 year old, and a 6 month old [emoji27]

You can totally do it! It it will probably come as a blessing because it gives you a break from the kids for a little. I have a 3 year old, almost 2 year old and a 3 month old. You can do it.

Hi I will also be starting nursing school with a 3 year old. I did all the pre-reqs when she was a baby and finally applied for RN and RPN this September :) if you have a good support system and work at it i'm sure you will do well! it is possible I am going into RN BScN.. I know a mom who completed the RN program with 2 young children. Hopefully you will have before/after school daycare you can apply for subsidy! and family members to help so you get time in to study.
