Hi! I am a pre nursing student and I applied for the practical nursing program this September 2016. I am a little hesitant about starting this year because I have a 2 year old son but he will be turning 3 when I start the program. I have had people tell me I should wait until he is 5 and in Kindergarden. But I have been working really hard these past 2 years completing these prerequisites. I will be finished my last prerequisite next month. As I said, I applied already and I am very excited to start it. Any advice for me? Should I just go ahead and start the program this September or should I wait a couple more years?
Honey you can do this. Coming from a second semester nursing student who has gone through a divorce her first semester and is now a single mom to TWO girls, now 7 and 3. Its imperative to have them on a good sleep schedule because that's when I study, and having a good support system (thank you mom and dad!) It isn't easy but possible
4 kids between ages 4 and 8? And in an accelerated program? You are amazing! I have 3 and my oldest and youngest are 10 years apart! lol my oldest son is 12, then I have an 8 year old daughter and my youngest son is 2 years old. Its nice because my 2 older ones help with my youngest. Anyway, you inspire me and I know I can do this! :)
My child was the reason I started nursing school. When I started pre-reqs he was 10 months old. I graduate in 3 months and he will be turning 4 two months after I graduate. Best feeling in the world! The time will pass anyway. I say do it now while your little is not doing extracurricular activities that you don't want to miss!

I don't have children but have known plenty of people who have had children while going through nursing school and are now nurses ! Like everyone is saying, prioritizing is key. Have a set strict schedule and stick to it. Anything is possible !!
