Hi! I am a pre nursing student and I applied for the practical nursing program this September 2016. I am a little hesitant about starting this year because I have a 2 year old son but he will be turning 3 when I start the program. I have had people tell me I should wait until he is 5 and in Kindergarden. But I have been working really hard these past 2 years completing these prerequisites. I will be finished my last prerequisite next month. As I said, I applied already and I am very excited to start it. Any advice for me? Should I just go ahead and start the program this September or should I wait a couple more years?
I have an 8 year old and a 2 year old. Some of my bigger problems this semester have been with my 8 year old. He and I start class at the same time, and the 2 year old's sitter can't get him to school. My point is, it is harder because you have kids, but it can be done.
It takes a village some days. Depending on your childcare, make sure you have a back-up or two. Good luck!!

Hello, noooo keep going. I am a mother of all boys ages 10, 6, 2, and 1. I am 26 and married but my husband left us a few weeks ago. You got this. I am graduating June of the year and I hold a GPA of 3.58 AS OF NOW but I still have a few more classes to go. You got thisssss. I don't know you but don't listen to them. You signed up for a reason. Look at your baby, your 2 yr old. Look around you. That's why you signed up. Every time you second guess your self I want you to remind yourself, its not about you. Your doing this for your baby. Go ahead. I hope that you post the first day of class. Next to your baby, I am your biggest fan!!!!
I forgot to mention that besides my 2 year old son, I also have a 12 year old son and an 8 year old daughter! lol I didn't mention them because I am mostly concerned about my 2 year old even though he will be 3 when I start. But I shouldn't be too concerned because my wonderful mom has offered to take care of him while I am at school! And my 2 sisters have also volunteered to watch him whenever I need. So I have a very supportive family and my husband is supportive also. I just had a few negative people tell me that I shouldn't do this now for the sake of my kids and that I should wait a few more years. That's why I started feeling so hesitant….

When I started I had a kindergartner, a 2 1/2 year old and a 6 month old. I'm not going to say it was easy... It was very tuff! But I got my LPN, RN and then BSN in 5 years.
My kids were the driving force that made me want to succeed and better my life!
Depending on your determination - you can do it!
