starting to get frustrated/discouraged

U.S.A. New York

I've been looking for a job for almost an entire month, and nothing. I got one interview, which was the same time as my orientation for school so they told me that was my only chance. I haven't gotten any other call backs. I must have filled out hundreds and hundreds of applications at this point and I am starting to think about just doing anything at this point, waitressing, Idk. I have a bachelor's in another field, but an associates in nursing and finishing a bachelor's this year. If I knew it was going to be like this, I would not have worked so hard to get through school.

That really sucks. My friend told me that because flu season is near, and there should be opportunities for administering vaccine. I know its not what I really want to do, but I just want my foot in the door. Ive been applying everywhere and no luck. Even with 1 year LPN experience still doesnt help. Trying to remain hopeful.

Yea, I'm doing some per diem flu clinics here and there as well. They pay $30 and hour but there aren't a ton of them and they are not consistent. You got to take what you can get. As soon as I get my nj license, I'm looking in northern jersey. I am originally from nj and i can tell you that the buses to northern jersey take like 20-45min and are pretty convenient...def look there too.

Specializes in Home health, Med Surg, LTC.

Thanks so much. I will look into it. Is the per diem flu clinic you work for hiring?

Specializes in MedSurg, PACU, Maternal/Child Health.

if you want to do flu clinics...check out craigslist jobs in the healthcare section...around this time of the year the agencies post jobs for this. Im not sure of the agency names but i remember seeing many postings for this type of jobs in late summer/early fall seasons.

Specializes in Home health, Med Surg, LTC.

Thanks. I have applied to a few flu clinics so far on craigslist. keeping my eyes open for more postings.

NYC is SO COMPETITIVE, I myself have filled out so many apps in the past 2 months and NOTHING! I would recommend Calvary Hospital (Hospice) to you, its located in the Bronx and they are always taking new grads.

Girlygirl23 - have you applied to Calvary? If so, did you do so through their website? I'm just looking at their website on your recommendation but it looks like their Jobs page is malfunctioning at the moment. Thanks!
