Started orientation for one job, offered interview for a better job

Published

Hello. First time posting here :)

Looking for some advice regarding an upcoming interview I have coming up.

I am currently doing orientation for the first job I accepted as a new grad (Part Time, geriatrics) - only my second day of in class orientation. I have decided to accept an interview to a new potential job (closer to home, new graduate initiative training, full time, nursing float pool team - in my case a better learning experience). I have decided to attend the interview and am going to be missing an orientation day in hopes of receiving a better job offer. My concern is this: Do I tell this new potential employer that I am currently in orientation at another hospital? Do I bring an updated resume with this information as they have my old one. Do I not bring it up at all? They are able to find out on their own potentially through my provinces college website as it states I am employed there.

Any advice would be great! Thanks!

In general, float pool is horrible for a new graduate. It's hard enough to find your footing without being scuttled all over the place.

I don't think I'd miss orientation for an interview, either. I advise you to try to reschedule the interview. After all, they have not hired you and they are not paying you. The other place has and they are.

I wouldn't mention that I'm orienting at another place, either ...for very obvious reasons.
