I am currently a nursing student and after two years I finally got into a nurses aid program around here so I can be doing something that relates more to my studies rather than retail! yay! :) I'm excited!

Congratulations on your new class.
I hope to go on to nursing school. I start my CNA training on 1/31/2011 and want to initially work in long term care.
Good luck with your training and nursing school.

I also start my CNA program in Feb!!! Good luck to the both of you! I also work in retail. I've been a part of it for over 4 years now while I go to school as well and can't wait to start my path into nursing =)

If you dont mind me asking, where/how did you find this CNA program. I have been looking everywhere and cannot find a program.
The American Red Cross offers the class I am attending. The State Department of Health has a listing of all the approved training programs. Go to your states Department of Health.
This is the link to California Dept of Health Certificates Licenses

Congrats! I can't wait to start my program on Jan. 20th. I am super excited. I've done retail and office jobs for only 5 years or so and it feels like forever! I can't wait to get a job as a CNA or anything in the medical field. I volunteer for now just so I can be so close to the action.
Kfarmer- I know on the MD board of nursing website they have a list of all of the programs that offer CNA courses in MD and as tomc5555 suggested Red Cross does offer those classes as well.
Thank you!! I am going through Red Cross and start January 20th!!!
I am searching for clarification of reimbursement for my Red Cross CNA training. This is from title 42 Code of Federal Regulations.
If I or anyone gets direction on how to be reimbursed for out of pocket training, please post.

(3) If an individual who is not em-
ployed, or does not have an offer to be employed, as a nurse aide becomes em- ployed by, or receives an offer of em- ployment from, a facility not later than 12 months after completing anurse aide competency evaluation pro- gram, the State must provide for the reimbursement of costs incurred in completing the program on a pro rata basis during the period in which the in-
dividual is employed as a nurse aide.

Congrats! Please let us know how was your first day...
I am currently taking the course and my final exam will be 12/18/10 I am really nervous about it.. :{ I will finish with my clinical practice this weekend we did our at a convalescent home. Skills are really tiring. But at the end of the day you feel good because you learn a new thing...Medicine careers are hard but cool in some ways... Good Luck!!
If anyone leaves in the LA area I have some information for new CNA classes that you can take for Free if qualify.. that's how I took mine.. ALL FREE of cost.
Usually nursing homes provide a class, or community college or like some one else said the red cross does. Just call around. Good luck finding one :)
So my first day was quite boring it is all mostly common sense. The second day we learned health care CPR and Basic Life Support. Very interesting and fun. It was fun to hear other classmates expierences of being a CNA before their license lapsed. We don't have class again until tuesday and then Friday and Saturday are our first day of clinicals. Should be fun. Going to apply at the hospital just as soon as I take my exam :)
Thank you for posting your experience in training. It helps to know what I may expect.
Good luck and please continue to post!
