Start CNA program tomorrow!
So my first day was quite boring it is all mostly common sense. The second day we learned health care CPR and Basic Life Support. Very interesting and fun. It was fun to hear other classmates expierences of being a CNA before their license lapsed. We don't have class again until tuesday and then Friday and Saturday are our first day of clinicals. Should be fun. Going to apply at the hospital just as soon as I take my exam :)

Usually nursing homes provide a class, or community college or like some one else said the red cross does. Just call around. Good luck finding one :)

Start CNA program tomorrow!
I am currently a nursing student and after two years I finally got into a nurses aid program around here so I can be doing something that relates more to my studies rather than retail! yay! :) I'm excited!

May have failed my first Exam!
I am taking Nutrition for Health Care. This is my instructors first year and she has been teaching off of a powerpoint, I mean she just reads off of a powerpoint presentation. We have her class once a week for 2 hours and this is our 3rd week into school. Today was our first exam I stayed up for the past few nights studying. I felt that I knew the material but today when I took the exam I didn't seem to know it! I'm afraid I failed. I am really hoping that if I failed that it doesn't effect my grade completley for the entire semester! What should I do?? Do I ask the instructor to take it again...or extra credit?? I'm really nervous that I failed. I guess I don't really have a question I just need some support and encouragement right now!

No one thinks I can do it!
I must say I don't agree with your statement....My baby will always come first. I will not be working anymore when school starts so school will be my work and I will be spending just as much time with my child as I do now. Don't reply to people's posts stating that they would be "neglecting" their child if they went to school, Maybe that was the case for you but not for me...thanks for your reply tho...

Just starting out (whats the best way to go about it)
I start my pre reqs this fall, I have a 8 month old son and a fiance, I can't afford to quit working all together but I will be working part time at Walmart. Places like Walmart are great because they are very flexible with your scheduale you can pick your own hours. As for now working part time is fine but when I actually get into the program I will quit working all together and take out a student loan and will be applying for all of the scholarships and grants that I can possible get. With the student loan I will only be taking out what I NEED....Right down how much you spend each month for bills,groceries,gas,ent..you don't want to live too extravagantly but enough to make ends meet and a little money for entertainment. I don't know if this helps...but this is how I'll we be going about school financially...hope this made sense :)

Internships, Volunteering?
I would like to get a job that pertains to Nursing or maybe a job that is in an enviroment where a nurse may work. Are there internships or can you volunteer at a hospital? I was also thinking of getting CNA liscense. Can anyone that volunteered at a hospital, had an internship or anyone that has gotten their CNA tell me how they did it? :) thanks! hope my question makes sense :) lol

No one thinks I can do it!
I am a mother to a 9 month old baby boy and soon to be married. I start school for pre nursing this fall. I have been sooo excited about it..I love to discuss my future goals and dreams to other people. When they ask me what I am going to school for they look at me like there is no way I could ever become a nurse. Some have responeded "Nursing is hard with a baby, I would be suprised if you could do it." "I don't know if the time right now for you" "Oh really? You are going into nursing? That is really hard you know?" I don't know why people keep saying these things to me. It really discourages me to the point that sometimes I wonder if I CAN really do it. When I told my parents I am starting school for nursing this fall, they weren't even excited for me. They said "I see..." and that was the extent of the conversation.... I am very motivated and can't wait for school but no longer want to discuss my dreams with people because of the reaction i have been getting.. Has anyone else been under my circumstances and been discouraged by other people about going into nursing school? Any advice?
