Stanford New Grad 2011 Residency

Published

I graduated with a BSN in April 2010, got my RN in June, and am still patiently job-hunting (no interviews yet.) I got an email from my nursing school last week that said "Attention 2009 and 2010 grads! Stanford will start accepting applications for their March 2011 New Grad Residency soon."

I went to the Stanford residency application web page, and saw this as the first qualification:

"Must be a graduate from a BSN or master's level entry into practice program, accredited by National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), within 9 months prior to the Program's start date."

Maybe this is a really silly question, so I want to ask it here before I ask it of Stanford. If the program starts in March, then I didn't graduate within 9 months prior to the program start date. Are they really excluding all Spring 2010 grads or am I reading this wrong?

Thanks for any suggestions/clarification!

I turned in my application on Dec. 2nd and had my phone interview this past Monday. It lasted about 15 minutes and I felt pretty nervous during it. Having to pause so they could write things down and not knowing if my pace was okay kind of threw me off. My status online changed from "in progress" to "application in review" the next day, but I haven't heard anything since. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad sign, since like I said, I haven't heard anything since then. I did my preceptorship in their ICU, but I'm not sure if that counts for much as far as the new grad program. Has anyone heard anything else from them? I also applied to the VA new grad program but again, haven't heard anything yet. Best of luck...

Right after my phone interview, I checked my status as well and it also said "application in review". I made the mistake of not noting what it said before that, but I believe it also said "in progress" like yours (@ BSNFall10). I think we may really need to wait until sometime next week, and see if our status stays the same (hopefully it does!) or changes to "not selected" . As usual, time will tell... Good luck to everyone ! :nurse:

Hi everyone!

I was just wondering, do you guys know if the application for Stanford Hospital's new grad program the same as the application for the new grad program at Lucile Packard? I know they're affiliated, but I'm not sure if they'd have the same application.

Thank you and good luck to everyone!

I just finished my interview. It went well and lasted only for 10 minutes. Received the same information from her as you all did, " check application status or will receive a " not selected email" ". Panel interview will be in mid January. Good luck to every one.

To verify my post. Panel interview will be notified to potential candidates in Mid January.

update -- I noticed my status date was updated today (previously 12/10, now 12/15), with the status text unchanged: "12/15/2010 Application in Review". So keep a look out on your status and see if the date or status text changes =)

Hi everyone!

Just scheduled my phone interview for Monday. I am so nervous as I want to get into this program so badly. Guess all I can do is give it my best shot and keep saying my prayers. Wish us all well as we continue looking for jobs.

I am scheduled for the phone interview this coming Tuesday and yes..i'm nervous too. I was told that they'll ask a non clinical and a non behavioral question..so basically they just ask about you not clinical experience related..?

Just finished mine. I was told im moving foward and my interview lasted about 13 minutes. It says "in review" so hopefully I should get that call in mid december as she said.

still waiting.... anyone heard back yet??

I received a phone call this afternoon from HR to schedule a panel interview early next week! Super excited, but nervous! :)

I received a call this morning as well and have an interview next week! Super excited but really nervous. The woman who called me told me they had about 1000 applicants, and narrowed it down to 70 to be interviewed for 9 spots. My status online now says "selected for interview" good luck to everyone, I hope this information helps.
