Hi! I was hoping my fellow nurses could help me by commenting what state you are in and what your nurse patient ratio is in pediatrics! Would like to present the data to show the national average IS NOT 8:1 with no ancillary staff! Thank you for your help!

8:1 for PEDS?????? *shudders
At my last clinical position it was 4:1 or 3:1 if oncology/ chemo patient. PICU was 1:1 (ECMO, oscillator, CVVH etc) or 2:1
Yup. What state are you ?? Thanks for the info

Our pediatric floor is 4:1, very very rarely 5:1 and mostly at night if ever that high. PCTs do vitals, I/Os, cares, and some help with labs. Our PICU and PCICU has a max of 2:1.

Generally 4:1, sometimes 3:1 depending on if they are getting chemo or post-ECMO or something (this is way down the line though). This varies based on hospital slightly, but never more than 4:1.
PICU: 2:1, sometimes 1:1.
Thank you. It seems like our crazy 8 to 1 is not the norm LOL . My argument to them is have you ever tried to babysit 8 kids? Now add into the fact that they are sick . So crazy .
