1st try.. Failed :(

Published

I took my NCLEX a few days ago and just found out I didn't pass. I had all 265 questions and it took me 5 1/2 hrs to complete. I took the Kaplan course and completed 99% of the w bank.. All the trainers/ alternate question types. I didn't find the exam to be impossible and I had a lot of SATAs, a few drug cal, lots of drag and drops and pictures. I also studied the review content guide from Kaplan and did questions from the PDA.

My overall performance said I was near the passing line in all areas except one I was below... What do I do now?? I feel defeated.. But I know I can do this. Any other tips???

Thank you !

I failed also my first try. I've been told a lot if people fail too but don't let anyone know. My DON let me know that she failed her first time. Made me feel better to know i wasn't the only one. I'm hoping to reschedule soon and take it again by the end of July or the beginning of August. :)

Sorry to hear that. How was ur scores?

The best advice is to study the content that you were weakest in, if u need to knoww content study content, if u need to study priority study that!! Good luck!!

I failed @ 265 too last week. Stay positive you can and will pass!

I am going to take Hurst review this time around.

You can do this!

I'm doing the Hurst review right now and I love it very detailed and specific. Best money ever spent. I take my test July 11

I found out I failed yesterday also.:( What did you use to study? I used Hurst and Kaplan. I liked Hurst and felt it helped but it seems a lot of things on my test were not covered by Hurst. I don't think it can be used as a only source to study. I don't feel like Kaplan helped me. Have you heard of the NCSBN review? The NCSBN are the people who right the NCLEX. I thought it may be helpful so I may try it. Its not that expensive either.

Keep your head up! We will pass next time!!:nurse::yes:

I failed as well my first time. Took it like 2 weeks ago. I'm using Kaplan & Hurst the second time around. First time, I used Feuer for content, ATI, PDA & Saunders. I know PLENTY of people who failed. My DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS at the hospital I work for, failed hers twice & now she's at the top looking down. DON'T lose hope. You need to stay positive in order to tackle this exam. Best of luck to you! We can do this!

Thank you everyone for the support!!!!

Do u guys suggest hurst/ Saunders or anything else besides Kaplan!?

Sorry to hear that! I would suggest Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment book by LaCharity and also NCLEX review 4000 CD which I think has the question format almost identical with the real nclex!! And don't forget you can do this!!!!!!

Man, you were RIGHT there!!! Well, that's the good news. I'd just study the content that you were below the mark on and take it again. You're gonna pass it 2nd time around. My school filled our heads with all this stuff about having a "98% pass rate"...well I personally know 3 people from my class that have failed already. People I work with have failed multiple times. It's a tricky test but personally, I really don't see how it tests your overall competency as a nurse. I'm just sayin'....you got this.
