Australia-USA Education Needs
Hi all, Late response here. I licensed in Hawaii (where I currently live). I completed Deakin PDU in maternity. Seems as though CA is extremely difficult to get initial licensure in. I initially applied for CA before moving to Hawaii but didn't actually re apply after I'd satisfied the maternity/obstetric requirement. Hawaii had no issues with Deakins PDU though. Hope that helped a little..!

Second Time NCLEX Passer Story and Advice
Absolutely, first piece of advice is to not doubt yourself. You can definitely pass this exam. I would see what the pearson review letter says when you receive it in the mail and see what areas you were below passing standard in. Don't give up you sound like you have the determination to pass this! Did you find that you were weak on content or you simply had a hard time narrowing down the answers? Happy to help in any way I can! :)

Second Time NCLEX Passer Story and Advice
Thought I would share my story since I've seen a few people posting who didn't pass on the first time like myself. I took the NCLEX for the second time on Friday and passed (PVT does work btw ). I failed last June. This time around I knew I had to rework my study approach so I decided to go with Hurst who I highly recommend for content review. I graduated in 2008 (foreign grad) so really needed to brush up on my core content and learn to think like a brand new nurse again. The first time around I don't think I gave the exam the respect it deserved and really winged it...big mistake. There really is a method to studying for and passing NCLEX. 1. I waited for the Pearson Vue letter that they send after you fail to arrive so I could see the areas I was deficient in. Take note of these areas so you can work on them. 2. I took a break from all the NCLEX books and study for a while until I was refreshed and motivated again. I couldn't study for it while I was still upset, bitter and exhausted from it all. 3. I signed up for Hurst Review and dedicated myself to really following their study schedule, except for practicing delegation and assignment. I personally found that if I jump from book to book to review to review you will not only confuse yourself, but you will mess up the methods they are each teaching you to pass. So I trusted in the process and went with it. 4. I used LaCharity Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment which I really feel is essential. Hurst is a core content review. If you know your core content you can pretty much answer most of the questions on the exam. 5. I made flash cards with all vital lab values on it because last time the one lab value I didn't know seemed to make an appearance in about 15 questions. (murphys law lol). KNOW these! 6. I personally didn't do hundreds of practice q's because I focused more on studying content this time around and really learning how to answer the questions...IE focusing on what they were asking instead of last time when I really did just try to answer the question without knowing the core content behind the question. 7. I did two practice exams and scored in the high 80s. I didn't take these quizzes until I'd finished the lecture series. okay the actual exam...I know each test is different but this was mine. 1. LOTS of SATA - I used True False approach to tackle these 2. Drag and Drop 3. I had many EKG strip interpretations somewhere around 12 4. Delegation Q's 5. Infection control questions and room assigning, so know your infection control! 6. A few Pharm q's. nothing major. it's all mostly a blur, but really I want to say don't lose hope, you can do this! I know it's so easy to get discouraged but you have already done the hard work of getting a college degree, this is something you CAN do! Keep trying and STUDY HARD! Good Luck to all of you 2nd, 3rd, 4th time test takers you really have to believe in yourself that you can do it!!

Failed NCLEX 1st time... Whats best study material
I recommend Hurst. I used hurst to review after I failed the first time and doing it the second time around after hurst was a world of difference. Knowing the core content taught in Hurst really helped me pass the exam.

Failed twice-need some help!
We all need encouraging words and your post really was something that I could relate to! You're so welcome! I was exhausted too and I actually took the test 6 months after I failed the first time. I took a break from anything NCLEX for a month or so and didn't touch any study materials. I really began intense studying about two months before I took the test. I recommend a structured review so you really have a study plan to follow. If you're exhausted, take a break, put the study things away for a while. When you're ready re register and start studying. I would recommend waiting until you get the pearson vue letter so you can see where you need to focus your studies. I'm more than happy to help you in any way I can even if it's just moral support :)

HELP!!!!! Failed for the 2nd time, Aiming for the 3rd
Don't be ashamed! Plenty of us take the NCLEX more than once. I failed the first time too and recently just passed on my second attempt. I basically reworked my approach to studying this time around. Take a look at the letter pearson vue sent you and see what areas you were deficient in so you have an idea of what you need to focus on. I ended up using Hurst review and i do not regret it at all! I was able to answer many questions using their approach because I knew the core content behind the answer. This may not be the case in your situation, but I know core content was what I really needed to consolidate on. With strong knowledge of core content I really feel that I could answer most questions confidently. Last time my problem was that I was too focused on trying to pick the right answer without knowing the core content behind what it was actually asking. I also used La Charity Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment. That book is crucial and I highly recommend you really study it! It really helped me. I also used NCLEX 4000 a little but not much. I put my faith in the review I chose and really concentrated on one instead of last time time where i kind of jumped from book to book to review. This is what helped me pass, we are all different in our approach to study and what works for us but you can do this! Good Luck!

Failed twice-need some help!
I really feel where you are coming from. I am a foreign nurse also and just retook and passed the NCLEX on my second try. I too failed the first time. I took the test after having my baby and dealing with life's everyday occurrences of being a mother and wife and generally not knowing what to expect. Okay so this time around I too wanted to pass so badly! Your experience sounded just like my first experience. I let the test get to me and when it didn't shut off at 75 I psyched myself out and was completely exhausted and disappointed when I completed all 265 questions and knew that I had failed. This time around I took hurst review and I cannot recommend it more. I basically needed to start from the beginning and re learn all the core content that I overlooked when I studied the first time. The first time I was preparing I was too focused on doing countless questions and trying to answer them without knowing the core content behind the answers. I graduated in 2008 so I definitely needed a refresher on this. I also used LaCharity Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment. This book was essential for me in passing. A good bulk of the multiple choice questions were delegation and prioritization. I also used NCLEX 4000 when I felt like I wanted something different to practice with. You CAN do this! Most importantly you have to believe you can do this. You graduated from college and this is something you CAN do! Good Luck!!!

Re-Take NCLEX Hawaii
Update to my situation in case anyone stumbles across this: I got my new ATT within 3 days from Pearson Vue. So I majorly over stressed on the situation. I re paid to take the test the day after I failed and they issued me a new ATT for 45 days after my failed nclex. hope that helps someone out there!
