Thanks for the reply CrunchRN. I just don't know what to expect and I really want to travel and just don't want to be taken advantage of. I am doing my homework on the companies but haven't gotten any good recommendations from anybody. I don't have anybody to go to with questions or advice. I just feel like I am ata loss. Thanks again for the reply. At least I know I did the right thing by turning down the offer (if that is what you want to call it). Lol
I can only tell you what my own response would be to that company: "Goodbye." That truly is probably the lowest compensation I have ever heard of. No matter what, I never take less than $25/hr, that does NOT include per diems, housing, travel, etc. I don't know who you are working with, but I would pour through these forums for recs. I have made mine and I know others have made theirs.
Im calculating $28hr...what about travel $$? Did they offer anything? If you found your own housing through craigslist or roommate add that wouldnt be too bad. Especially as you are only being taxed on $12/hr.
What are you comparing this too? Have you had other offers? $28/hr might be the local rate....
That offer is a joke. I would love to know what company had the nerve to quote that rate. I wont go for at less than mid twenties, free medical and dental, free housing, 250-300 biweekly for meals. I also want reimbersment for things like travel and parking expenses. I also dont negotiate well so Im prob payed less than most on assignments.
Lemme guess, this is a CCTC contract correct? I was offered the same per diem crap, medical insurance and housing for another New England town. The problem is thus, I have been a nurse for about 12 years now and for many of those I was a traveler. When I worked a traveling contract back in 2001, I was paid $9 MORE per hour than the rate I am now being quoted for the SAME hospital. I am being told that "with the Tax-advantage plan your hourly rate will be equivalent to --.--/hr." Unfortunately, I have NO interest in taking a tax advantage plan. I'll get that ANYWAY at the end of the year when I file my taxes. I want the market wage salary (without any tax-advantage plan or other nonsense thrown in), a 1-bedroom apartment and medical coverage. End-of-story, period. These companies have really been screwing over nurses!! Makes me so mad!

You are right, it was with CCTC.
Did not take the job, but got a different job at John Hopkins University Medical Center with a different company.
Glad to hear you didn't take the CCTC position! I'm also working with the recruiter from a different company and she has been very honest and upfront with me. After dealing with the other run around, I am so much more appreciative of honesty now!! When will you start your new assignment?

Here is the offer:
University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore
$35 a day for meals and incidentals
$100 monthly for parking
$1350 month housing stipend or take their housing
$6 week for health, dental and vision
Now here is the kicker......drum roll please.....
$12.50 per hour base rate
For a total of $22.85 per hour to take this position.
And I should mention this is Psych so I understand the pay may be lower. This is my very first offer and I feel like this company is trying to take advantage of me. My hopes and spirits are broken.
