st. paul's school of Nursing , on staten island, fall 2011

Published

hello,

i am trying to enroll in fall 2011 at st. paul's school of nursing , on staten island i just look the hesi exam and barely pass the exam .... they have all my paper work that is required .. when i call them my advisor told me there is no interview but they will send an acceptance letter if i get in .... i am just curious how long do i have to wait before i found out if i got in or not ?? i want to take some prerequisites during summer time at a different college so i can save some money... please can someone gave me some info about when will i know if get in or not ?????

Okk thanx. So I'll wait till Monday when I drop off my physical and ask for one then. Is it still like a list of 10 books or is it shortened n easier to see exactly what you need??

ask the bursar for the list..... i told her the name of the classes that i was taking this semester … then she send an email with only the books for those certain classes … email also contained school’s book store price and the isbn # ..... earlier they provided me a list that contain books for the entire two years that list also contain books for dental assistant …. which was crazy i had no idea where to begin … in your case if the list is only 10 then that might be it but just call or contact them before purchase just to be on the safe side because these books are not cheap

I know i'm very late in this forum but I was just chosen off of the waiting list YESTERDAY! I will be accepting and attending evening class this fall. Does anyone know when the first day of class is? I understand that orientation is on the 31st which is this wednesday.

congrats.... :) classes starts on sept 1st as far as i know ...

hey guys

I am trying to read everything on the book but I am unable to finish reading on time... therefore I don't even get a chance to look at the pwerpoint notes anyone have any study tips  :cry:

Hi Everyone,

This is my thoughts about this school, just thought I would share.

I was interested in applying to St. Paul’s until I found out info about them yesterday,

I called the NYS Dept of Education to see if St. Pauls was an approved institution to offer AAS nursing degree. According to the representative, yes they are, but the school is not yet accredited.

It can be confirmed here:

http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/nurse/nurseprogs-assoc.htm

So I check the NLN accredition website to confirm whether or not it is true. St. Pauls is NOT accredited.. It can be confirmed here:

http://www.nlnac.org/forms/directorySearch.asp

I even went to the school to try to talk to someone about whether or not they will be accredited. The secretary told me that I would not be able to speak to anyone unless I hand in an application and have an appointment after its turned in.

I could not believe her response. I will have to pay $100 (application fee) just to speak to someone? Spend over 20,000 at the school? I like to research programs before I dedicate my hard earned money to any school.

I did do some further research and learned that NYS nursing schools (SUNY) such as SUNY Downstate and Delhi will accept you will accept you after you graduate from St. Pauls. These programs are VERY competitive. I know from experience and would not even take that risk. Schools such as LIU would not admit students unless they are graduates from an accredited program. Some jobs are the same unless you are working in a state hospital. They are not that many in the state and jobs are competitive there.

NYS (SUNY) Nursing schools accepted schools that are listed on the CHEA website:

http://www.chea.org/search/search.asp

Bottom line is you can attend this school AT YOUR OWN RISK. I highly would not recommend it, Even if Nursing is really competitive.

*sigh*

We've been around this barn so many times a groove has been worn in.

Yes, both Saint Paul's programs are not NLN accredited, but that is to be expected as they are *new* schools.

Any and every nursing school since the NLN was created at one time or another was not given that body's stamp of approval because the process is long and takes into account the performance of graduates over several years.

IIRC someone posted in this or another thread St. Paul's programs have now begun the process of applying with the NLN so we shall see where that leads.

How was the Hesi exam? What kind of questions were on the math??
