St. Louis University AGMSN

I am applying to the AGMSN program for Fall 2014. I have not seen much activity of the boards about this program. If anyone is an alumni/a, presently a student , or even applying could you write your comment below. I am very serious about attending this program if I get in. However, I would be leaving my home in NYC to do so so any comment would be appreciated.

Also if you are in the program or graduated could you just list your stats as well please ( like prereq grades). Thanks

Awesome! Can you tell me more about the program..like course load, prof, class times, clinicals etc?

Hey guys,

I was looking into this program for SLU AGMSN and was wondering what the range the tuition is? Also, does the class times vary not MON-FRI 8-4pm?

I'm still waiting to see if I got accepted :x are clinicals held at one hospital or all around the city? thanks!

For the first semester, clinicals is at a nursing home. Fir the first semster, we had class everyday except one. Classes were not 8-4 everyday. Some days it was 8-2 or till 1. This semester, classes are scheduled for Mondays and Tuesdays only. Med-Surg is the only class we have on Monday and that is from 8-12, and then afterwards we have simulation lab ( depending on when you are scheduled) or skills lab. On Tuesdaye, we have class from 9-6:30 because all of the other classes are on this day. Wednesday we have psych/public health clinical. Thursdays are Med-Surg clinicals. As of right now the only hospital we have had a clinical at is SLU Hospital and St. Mary's.

This semester if more challenging that last semester however the work is completely doable. IF you have anymore questions send me a PM or post a reply. I will try to answer in a timely fashion.

Hi AccelCNL2b16 I am interested in applying to this program for class of 2017. I just wanted to know how is everything going so far?

I am presently 3/5 through with the program. Right now I am doing 12-hr shifts with my preceptor on an abdominal transplant floor. I also was able to pick up a few shifts in an ICU because I asked and my goal is to work in an ICU after graduation. Other than that everything is going great. I enjoy the program. Yes, it is stressful and the work can be demanding at times. However, never at one point in the program did I feel as if the work was impossible to complete.

If you have any other specific questions send me a PM. Good luck with your application.

Hi! I got accepted to the AGMSN program in February. After reviewing other programs I am a little confused because in UIC for example it states the classes as Mental Health/Psychiatry or Women's Health. It doesn't seem like this program is specific and has classes focusing on these areas. Are they just blended into classes: Clinical I, II, III?

Congrats. I just sent you a message.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Very helpful!!!

Since I just joined this site I am unable to answer privately but your answers were very helpful!!

I am from the Chicagoland area and would like to be able to visit during the semester, i Know it is strenuous but is there lee-way in the program for me to do so?

I also know this degree is known as a more terminal degree at SLU, however, at Rush and UIC they offer continuation of education to receive a DNP. Would I have to get another Masters before getting a DNP at SLU? Im not sure if you would know!

CONGRATS ON YOUR JOB!

THANK YOU AGAIN,

Lisa :)

I guess I am having a hard time deciding if this program is for me because it is an accelerated program I don't want to feel like I am missing out on crucial information I would need to be successful in a nursing career.

I know there is a difference between the DNP and just receiving the NP. My goal was to continue to get a DNP but seems more difficult with this program is that true?
