I have done a few searches, but haven't found many responses (or at least newer) re: St. Joseph's nurse practitioner program. I'm considering it because it seems flexible, reasonable, and like a good opportunity from what I can tell. Please share your experiences!! Is $600/credit reasonable for an online program? I feel it's almost worth it so that I can start sooner rather than later!

Thanks in advance :)

I am in!!! :) and they took many of my anesthesia courses. I talked to them in the spring but chickened out due to the cost now in kicking myself. They took a LOT of my anesthesia core classes ( more than I expected) I have a few others to take then clinicals hopefully by spring if I kick in high gear. I'm so glad to be joining u guys at st joes!!

The courses start the last day of every month. It took me about 3 weeks to be completely signed up. Most of that was because I was too chicken to submit my money for the course ;). My first course is Leadership and Management. There aren't any tests, just some papers. The way you turn in assignments is kind of strange, because multiple assignments have to be submitted in one word document and APA format (even though they're unrelated). It's also my first submission, so maybe I went overboard. I'm cruising through this course, I could probably be done soon if I didn't let the self-paced part of the course make me lazy. I'm just ready for the FNP courses... I don't like the filler ones!! I bought my book online for $10 from ebay and most of the others are pretty cheap on ebay as well. I'm thinking of starting another course 7/31/11 while I'm finishing up this one! Maybe informatics?

Also, did any of you get a "course map" or anything that lined up how you should take your courses? Or an email address? I don't feel quite official yet :)

I liked the self pace that was great but now that we are about to start the first round of clinicals they are going to be in a cohort which means each clinical rotation is going to take 15 weeks which sucks I usually dont use the whole 15 weeks to complete a class not a happy camper about that I will try to keep you guys updated with how the clinicals are going were looking to start next month

Shannon 09 I got a letter this past week telling me I was accepted but they have had my transcripts since 6/4.in the letter was a list of the classes I need to take and what had been accepted. I did not receive a schedule, I called my admissions counselor today and she told me I would be getting a email with further instructions.

I received an email from them with instructions on the Angel format for learning, but that was the extent of it. I've emailed my advisor, but haven't heard back yet. It's just way different than other classes I've taken online because I usually had all the resources online where I could pull them up anytime. I'm ready for the big kid classes on assessment :) I wish I could just fast forward! I've finished unit 2 of 5 in leadership and management so I think I'll have completed my first class in just 4-5 weeks. I'm going to add a course and see if I can keep up the pace by finishing a course every 4-7 weeks. In my BSN I routinely took 2-3 classes in just a 5 week period. Obviously these classes are going to be more intense and I want to soak in every bit of the FNP information when I get to those courses. I'm curious to see if we will cover the regulations on NP's, which states allow independent practice, medicare reimbursements, etc. Also, if you're in clinicals for 15 weeks, are you also taking the FNP assessment course at the same time? How is the information presented? I am definitely a little worried that everything is a written assignment. Sometimes I like to have a quiz every now and then to test my knowledge and make sure I'm keeping up with studying and not just focusing on the information I need for the written assignments alone.

How are you liking it now that you are so far into the program? Has anyone graduated from the program yet?

Hello, I will be starting St joseph college. Since, I have a bs in another field, I have to take two classes first, Community assessment and leadership..from expect to notice is the book that require. How are the classes?

I've also looked into this a bit. I was also looking at Jefferson's online FNP program down in Philly. The only issue with that was there can be no clinical in NY. So I would have to go to either MA or VT since they were the closest. Is anyone here from NY or know if St. Joseph's clinicals can be done in NY???
