St. John's River State College Nursing Fall 2017

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am applying to SJRSC this May for their Fall 2017 program. I was wondering with the new application no longer being a point system/ not having to have BOTH HESI and the pre-req's are you still applying with both to be looked at twice? My prerequisite's GPA is a 3.8 and one of the advisors says "you won't have a problem getting in at all!" BUT I have an 89,90,and 91 HESI scores which I know you need at least 90 in all three categories (I'm so close!!) to be looked at via the HESI route. Anyways, I don't want to take her word and be crazy disappointed if she's wrong (clearly, I'm still nervous despite her confidence) so should I retake the HESI? Are most applicants applying to be looked at twice in BOTH categories (HESI & GPA)? Would also love for this to be the a forum for the 2017 students to chat and bat around other questions too (as I noticed the other SJRSC forums are from years past)! :-)

Hello sunnyshale how are you? So glad you started a Fall 2017 page. I'm thinking about applying for sjrstate fall 2017 bridge program can you tell me about the new application rule? I don't know anything about sjrcc nursing programs I'm not even sure how do chose who get in I herd something about category 2 not sure what that is:down:

So instead of putting applicants in 3 categories based on GPA and Hesi score, they now have two pools of applicants- one based off JUST Hesi score which has to be 90 and above in all three subjects to get in such pool and the second is based off JUST the 9 pre-requisite's GPA. Hope that helps :-) you just need one or the other, not both now.

Thank you so much for responding to my post do you know which category have a better change in getting in the program?

From what I understand, neither is "better than the other". I think they take 18ish from each (if I remember correctly).

Hello SunnyShalee! I have heard of some applicants applying both ways. However their GPAs are not as competitive as yours so the HESI is kinda like their back up plan. I honestly think you will have no problem getting in with your GPA. In the spring I believe the lowest they took was an 3.6 but they have double the seats in the fall. But you should do what makes you feel comfortable. Also I wanted to add the GPA requirement (unless it has changed) is off your cumulative college GPA not just your prerequisite GPA.

Do they accept any other math courses? If I could replace MAC1105 that would help my GPA a great amount.

I am fairly certain they only accept college algebra. Also, if you need grade recovery to help your GPA iyou have to take the same course code.

I was wrong it is not your cumulative GPA but your prerequisite

GPA.

Submitted my application! 😬 The waiting game begins! Good luck everyone! 🤞🏼💕

Does anyone know when we will find out? I know there is still a few more days for applications to be accepted. However, I cant wait! :)

I applied on Thursday and was told by the advisor they are reviewing all applications as they come in and will be letting everyone know by the first week of June. Good Luck!
