1st alternate...and it's driving me CrAzY!!!!

Published

I was THRILLED when I found out I had been moved all the way to FIRST ALTERNATE for this fall but now I'm just going CRAZY! LOL :clown: I keep my phone within 2 feet of me at all times... Peek at it every few minutes when I'm in the shower...Haha You never know when they might call right? :D But this whole maybe ya will, maybe ya won't stuff is just too much! I have two little boys, do I need to have a daycare? Should I be getting ready? Part of me thinks I should plan as though I'm going to start and the other part of me thinks if I go through all of that and don't end up starting it will break my heart!!!! :banghead: I just want to know one way or the other! Sorry for the vent... Good luck to all of you that have a for sure spot this fall! Hope I'm right there with you! :yeah:

Im sorry you have not heard anything yet. What sucks is that when I went to orientation the other day their was this girl their and when I asked her if she was excited she said "No, she didn't care if she got in or not". I wanted to say "you took a spot of someone that really wanted in" I didn't say it though I was nice and just said "Oh" and turned around. I still erks me though...

That's ridiculously frustrating to hear.

PS--every time I see a response to this thread, I think it's YOU, O2BN, saying you finally heard something! :(

Isn't that crazy?! That's why I think that my school should start putting people on the list according to interview and grades instead of, oh gee...you met the requirements..now ya just gotta wait your turn... :banghead: This sounds SO mean, but statistics say that several of them wont even make it through the first semester.... Drop out and work on your math/study skills and GIVE YOUR SPOT TO ME!!! LOL :wink2: Oh well!!!!

No news yet...... Tomorrow is the first day of nursing classes. I'm still holding my breath that they will call first thing in the morning because someone doesn't show up... :plsebeg:

I always have this little glimmer of hope on Mondays that someone called and left a message over the weekend... lol So come 9 -when they get there- I stare at my phone thinking, RING!!! :anbd: Obviously, my mental powers are lacking... He he

Wow I've never even thought about someone calling and leaving a message over the weekend. I'm glad I didn't hear that theory earlier or every monday morning I'd literally do the exact same thing -- stare at my phone.

You know I've actually called my phone to MAKE SURE it's working?! LOL

I still haven't heard anything either...tomorrow they have drop in appointments and I'm going in just to see what I can do. I'm sure it'll be nothing. But at this point...you just have to try.

I am seriously sending the best of vibes your way. I'm practically sending my phone number out so you can call me as soon as you hear something lol! :p

Oh geez! Sorry!!! Haha I'm sure you don't need me giving you any ideas on how to obsess!!! :D I have their whole day thought out... "Maybe they will call me now because...." It's bad! I don't recommend it!!! :chuckle

Anywho, I PROMISE I will post the minute I hear anything. If it's going to happen, it will be tomorrow sometime or first thing Wednesday morning I would think. Only 48 hours of torture left and I will know one way or another. They wont move anyone after Wednesday. You're SO stinkin lucky you have a whole week of hope left!!!! Although there is a sense of peace that comes with knowing..even if it's not what you wanna know.

AH!!! :( Have you heard anything yet? The wait is still absolutely driving me crazy (both the wait for ME and the wait for YOU!). I got so impatient that I went in to speak with an admissions counselor today for that drop-in appointment I mentioned I might do.

She basically told me that orientation for the BSN program is this Thursday and Friday and if people don't show up to the orientation, they'd be calling me either one of those two days or on Monday. She also said that if someone doesn't show up to class on Monday (which she mentioned was VERY unlikely...) they would call and accept me even though classes had technically begun already.

She made it sound like there is still a very good chance of me getting accepted for fall 2009 based on how many people haven't shown up to orientations in the past semesters. However, now that the CSUs aren't accepting for spring, I can only imagine that everyone who receives an acceptance letter is going to hang on to their spot for dear life! So I really don't want to get my hopes up, especially since I already came to terms with the idea of waiting until spring.

Let me know what you've heard!!

WOW! Sounds like you have an AWESOME chance!!! I'm so excited for you!!! :yeah:

As for me, I believe the chapter of me having a glimmer of hope has officially closed. Unless someone doesn't show up for day 2 of nursing classes, I'm sunk because they wont admit anyone after tomorrow. I was chatting with my friend who is 1 spot behind me and we were equally frustrated. We're all told that a bunch of people drop out the first few weeks.... GRrrr I wanted this SO freakin badly! :banghead: Oh well, life goes on! Fall 2010 it is. :wink2:

No, no! Spring 2010 :) Keep up hope! Spring isn't that far away, right? I guess waiting around for one semester won't be too bad. I know I'll personally have to do some meditation or something to keep my head on straight, but we'll definitely make it through---like you said, life goes on! Even if it doesn't feel that way :)

That's interesting that you and your friend are one spot away from eachother. Atleast now you can both reapply for spring and maybe attend together? I definitely wish I was going to school with a friend, unfortunately all my friends were planning to apply to CSUs for spring so they'll be sitting around until fall 2010. :(

My school doesn't offer a spring class, so I wont be starting until fall. Luckily, I don't have to reapply, I'm already accepted for fall. :D All this waiting and uncertainty has been emotionally exhausting!!! I never dreamed this was going to be so hard. :crying2:

That's awful! Are you going to apply to other programs for spring entry? Or are you just going to take the guaranteed fall 2010 admission and keep yourself occupied until then?

I would but the next closest school that offers a RN program is 100 miles away and I can't move because my husbands job is here. I'm pretty much stuck with this school..lol  Oh well....

You better let me know if you get in!!! Surely one of us will!!! Haha since it wasn't me, it's gotta be YOU! :yeah:
